Some are of the opinion that Nintendo is not doing enough, despite the briefing the president gave yesterday morning. So when asked what specific strategies he had in mind moving forward, he responded with more considerations.
I think they need to acquire some studios in order to make more games, new games, faster. As for a merger, who could they merge with? Interesting to say the least... Changes are coming, I hope for the better.
you're right, and i think taking some of those 2nd parties under their banner to be 1st parties would help.
It is funny that when I read about Sony buying the factory they build the WiiU ram I thought what if Sony and Nintendo merged that would be the coolest thing in the world now they talking a maybe merger I would think they would go with Sony or Sega based off the fact I think they would stick to a Japanese company and they have been in the gaming world the longest.
buy factory doesn't meaning working together
They need more Retro's. Developers who bring something new to the table with their franchises allowing them to reach their true potential. Star Fox hasn't seen anything Earthbound F-Zero Need I go on. If Nintendo doesn't want to make these games, then find developer who have proven track records with similar games, and allow them to make them. Find some of the straggling Sony Liverpool guys (aka Wipeout) and let them make F-Zero. Fine some of the Incognito guys (Warhawk / Starhawk) and let them make Starfox.
They did a lot of this with the gamecube. Like aquiring retro, liscensing out star fox and f zero and even mario in a whole bunch of stuff. Also getting games from sillicon knights and factor5.
Come on Nintendo, start to flex that capital muscle. Purchasing a couple of smaller studios could be a great way to infuse some new games into the pipeline.
Good that they are trying to reach more broad of an audience, we need more games than mario and zelda.
Sony / Nintendo Merger would end the universe
Sony would definitely have to do the hardware ;)
Nintendo would definitely have to do the software ;)
I hope they don't bag Platinum Games.
that would be the worst move ever as a company, their games don't even sell. @KonsoruMasuta if nintendo wants the hardcore audience back stop relying on mario & zelda. start bringing back franchises like star fox, f-zero, metroid prime, hell make a new earthbound game. the hardcore audinence is gonna come back to nintendo because they have mediocre games like bayonetta on their system.
They could help capture the hardcore audience that Ninty needs.
they should try to buy banjo Kazooie, conker, megaman & Bomberman. those franchises are just sitting there waiting to be used to their fullest potential. the companies that own them are doing anything with them anyways.
They should have never sold Rare. By doing so, they lost Killer Instinct.
they never owned Rare. They only had shares in them which was about 46% and Microsoft bought the rest and when Rare started to change after Conker BFD and SF Adventures. Nintendo sold the rest to MS.
Ah right, my apologies. I was under the impression they did own them. Imagine having Killer Instinct exclusive to the Wii U ? That would have been pretty sweet!
Why are the just now looking into/considering these things? They should have been at this point back in 2010/2011+/- Did they forget they were releasing a new console in 2012 or did they remember the console but forget it needed to have games?
They should have bought RAREWARE before the Stampers sold their share to Microsoft. RAREWARE was a damn good company and they pumped out alot of classic games for Nintendo. It sucks that Micro$oft has destroyed one of the best gaming companies ever. What is truly sad is the fact that people will defend Micro$oft, the company who destroyed RARE and forced terrible policies on the gaming community. R.I.P. RAREWARE :(
First party game won help them. Even if they create more studios or buy exclusive games. At this rate, I don't see how Nintendo going to make a comeback. Nintendo should just stop making consoles and become a software company. PS4, XB1, and mobile will slowly leaving them in the dust.
I like how people jump to Sony/Nintendo when they hear merger. That would become a monopoly in it's purest form for sure. I think they Nintendo is thinking a little differently.
Monopoly? MS is still around, and you have the PC market.
