I'm guessing if you pulled an 8 hour gaming session you would stink up a storm too.

Part of the issue could be the gamer's relationship status. I am sure if they have a wife or girlfriend they may be more considerate about taking care of themselves than say a single person might.

MrCrimson1697d ago

On the contrary.

Single people look to impress, those taken have no reason to impress.

slivery1697d ago

Really depends on the person, me for instance I am the opposite of what you speak of. It is usually when I am trying to get a girlfriend or am with one that I care that much about being clean 24/7.

I myself feel if someone is willing to give you their time and their body for your pleasure and enjoyment, the least I could do is be the best man I possibly can be for them not the other way around one that just doesn't care.

Other than that I really don't care, I mean I won't let myself get filthy digusting to the point my ass just smells up a room but I am definetely not trying to impress people now. Mainly because I have come to a point where I am done with relationships and just really don't care about people in general anymore.

Could be a number a reasons really a person just stops caring about hygiene, heck they could just be one of those health nuts and feel it is better to let yourself get dirty, which techincally yes it helps build a stronger immune system. Some people could just have very sensitive skin as well and cannot wash themselves as much as they would like because it leads to rashes or their skin breaking out.

I understand what you mean though but I think that only applies to the start of a relationship, as couples grow to know each other that is usually when they start becoming lazy after years of being together not caring so much to impress eachother every single day as they did at the start of the relationship.

Neonridr1696d ago

lol, I guess I see your point. I duped my wife into marrying me, so now she has to put up with my stank.. ;)

That being said, I don't know why we are only speaking about gamers.. I think hygiene in general for everyone seems to becoming an optional thing, which is just plain wrong.. lol

Crazee-gamer1696d ago

This is correct.. I'm currently clean, deoderant on and cologne as well. Hate smelling like crap.

ZombieKiller1697d ago (Edited 1697d ago )

Everyone games....why are we being classified or stereotyped?!

Let me tell you guys a little about myself:

I own a 2004, CLEAN. I rent a very nice apartment, in which I clean every week at least once. I have a girlfriend. She's skinny, she's cute, and she keeps everything in order....TRUST ME. My job REQUIRES me to dress in a suit and tie, keep my hair combed, and make sure MY FNCKING FINGERNAILS ARE CLEAN FFS. So in my honest opinion, I have excellent hygene.
So why, just because I am a gamer, am I classified as having poor hygiene? Or even questioned? Can't it be 53% of humans? Why does it have to be gamers? My floors are cleaner than the keys on they keyboards they used to type this crap. Replace the word gamer with any...I mean ANY race, and it's racist so why is it ok here?
Stereotypes are bad, no matter who they're directed at.
Or should I start with the "99% of gaming journalists are a freaking joke" talk?!?!

jackanderson19851697d ago

well could be down to the fact that it's a gaming site...about gamers... that did a poll on gamers.....

but hey that's just my guess

YoungKingDoran1697d ago

My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Unreal01: First off, YoungKingDoran was quoting Christian Bale's character Patrick Bateman from the movie American Psycho.

Secondly, nobody needs your childish, immature, homophobic, bigoted comments, so take that crap somewhere else.

Anyone who pulls 8 hour gaming sessions has some issues. That's past the point of "hobby" and into the realm of addiction.

How hard is it to have a shower wash your hands comb your hair and worse comes to worse use deodorant

Pozzle1697d ago (Edited 1697d ago )

It baffles me how many adults simply don't understand basic hygiene. I used to work at a job employment agency and we often held hygiene classes to help people learn how to wash and dress properly before a job interview. And no offense to the people who attended those classes, but many of them smelled badly of stale BO (at 8:00 in the morning!) or actual garbage.
I just...don't get how a person can smell that badly and not notice and/or care.

Bimkoblerutso1697d ago

You literally cannot smell yourself. I've got a brother that will tell me when I am stinking in one way or another, and by god, I can never tell when he points it out. I can get my nose right up into my...crevices, and still not smell anything. But when I cross-reference with other people, his story always checks out.

Not that that's any excuse. A shower at least every other day is pretty much required just to keep the stickiness and oils at bay, even if there isn't necessarily any stankiness.

GraveLord1697d ago

They're probably homeless dude.....if not then they're mentally ill. No sane person with a home would go out in public smelling that bad.

Pozzle1697d ago

@GraveLord: Nah, we didn't deal with homeless or mentally ill people (they would have needed more help than we could offer at a job employment agency and were usually referred to other services). We only dealt with people who were, for all intents and purposes, "fit for work". These were functioning members of society, some of who were only temporarily unemployed. That's why it was so surprising to me that a basic hygiene class even existed for full-grown adults, let alone people who should already know how to wash themselves. D:

That's just an example though. I've known many smelly people in the past who just don't seem to care about how they smell.

Lord_Sloth1697d ago

How does combing your hair effect anything aside from it's neatness?

MidnytRain1697d ago

I guess it can get out anything that might be tangled in it...

Codey471697d ago (Edited 1697d ago )

Well combing is very difficult for me....If I use a comb I'll give myself open wound corn treads.

I'll spell it out.......... I'm bald.

Unless you're talking about the afro in my undergarments.

Reaon1697d ago

What do you mean "worse come to worse"?
ALWAYS use deodorant, simple as that.
