3 Reasons Sony’s PS Vita Failed

Sony’s PS Vita has been marginalized by Nintendo’s 3DS over the past two years. Let’s take a look at 3 big reasons that the console flopped.

The story is too old to be commented.

The Vita failed? Smh here we go.

"the loss of third-party support, the higher price, the less appealing hardware features, and the lack of full backwards compatibility -- Sony has tried to sweep the PS Vita under the rug."

Whatever brah, meanwhile im enjoying my PsVita games(wich also include most of my psp games), that's what really matter.

even if the 3ds is a giant fad, it wont make the ps vita less appealing for me.

I agree the vita isnt a failure yet but the 3ds is a "fad"? What does that even mean? The system has achieved success through a steady stream of system sellers. Before that it was selling like shit, the 3ds is far from a fad.

FAD=an intense and widely shared enthusiasm for something, like the wii "fad"(everyone and its mother got the wii)

Concertoine1417d ago

Lol i like how you left off the part that made you look condescending. Full def:
Fad: an intense and widely shared enthusiasm for something, esp. one that is short-lived and without basis in the object's qualities; a craze.

By your definition anything remotely successful is a fad... the 3ds earned its success is my point. The wii was a fad, 3ds is just a good system with good software

I shall vote to give you a bubble

the 3DS is no fad, its nothing like the Wii... The Wii sold on the novelty of its motion controller... the 3DS TRIED to be a fad based on the 3D and it failed, nobody cared about 3D... then the games started rolling and now its selling well simply because it has a great library with something for everyone in it

Many people still do not get it, well here is something many have not thought about, and yet Sony done it before. but this time they have a platform product name that leads upto it's ultimate Goal.. a playstation in every living room of your House.

Example:

Sony has a Plan for the PSVita TV and take a look at this and see if you can guess what that plan is....

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Hint: they have done it before, and i think they will do it again.

Now the Tv Line can be unified into playstation Also!
the Component cost's are much cheaper, and the size is small enough that adding an internal or external Playstation Vita TV box to the TV as a Bundle would in effect be cheaper to do.

Why just worry about getting a playstation into only a Livingroom?
Put A PLAYSTATION in pretty much every room in your house! that a TV would Go into. but do it at a cost effective Price point!

the psvita is not designed to the mobile market the way nintendo does with its mobile platforms.

AGAIN: Do you see Nintendo making a 3DS system into a Micro-console? That is a very clear No!

Unlike Nintendo Sony has indeed made the PSVita as also a Micros-Console the fact that they released it so quickly means they already had this very idea from the start.

Despite these "SONY IS GOING TO DROP THE PSVita" or its a flop or failed product line, it seems many are in such a hurry to write off any platform so quickly, that many cannot see the forest for the trees.

I don't know, but Vita seems to be more like a niche hardware than anything else. I really enjoyed my time with Rainbow Moon, all the Atelier plus versions, P4, New Little King's Story, Gravity Rush, Ragnarok Odyssey and now I'm having fun with Sorcery Saga and gonna start Ys right after I finish it.

Really, how have it failed if it appeal to a large crowd of people who cares for those games? The market isn't all about selling more than your competitors, but having sales that pays for the costs and turn it all in profit.
