Legislation in 38 Studios case goes to the Rhode Island Senate

PROVIDENCE — Legislation meant to encourage settlement in Rhode Island’s lawsuit against those involved in the 38 Studios fiasco now heads to the full the state Senate, following a public hearing and vote by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.

The proposal, which has been submitted at the request of Governor Chafee’s administration, applies only to the 38 Studios case and would essentially protect any party that settles with the state from claims filed by other defendants seeking compensation for damages they are ultimately liable for.
