Well deserved, TLOU is a great game

Abriael1393d ago

It is. Skyrim was my game of the year too when it launched, but it wasn't as much as a clear cut choice as TLOU.

Carheadbutt1393d ago

My 500 hours in Skyrim argue differently.

Abriael1393d ago

if longevity was the only factor behind greatness, Mount and Blade: Warband would be my game of the century :D

king_george1393d ago

@Carheadbutt

Good for you -_-

kayoss1393d ago

What the hell do you do for 500 hours in Skyrim?

-Foxtrot1393d ago (Edited 1393d ago )

I think back in 2011 with GOTY it was Uncharted 3 for me....no offense to Skrim but buggy games shouldn't win GOTY especially where one of the versions, the PS3 is a broken mess.

pyramidshead1393d ago

I don't think any game is going to come close any time soon either. Especially on story.

MysticStrummer1393d ago (Edited 1393d ago )

Loved Skyrim then and still do, but that year Dark Souls took the award in my book.

Congrats to ND for all those well deserved awards.

@Carheadbutt

I'll see your 500 and raise you 100+. 600+ hours gameplay on Skyrim here and i would STILL choose TLOU over it in a heartbeat.

@kayos

"What the hell do you do for 500 hours in Skyrim?"

No fast travelling, every main/side quest and faction completed and every single location on the map explored and beaten and every power/skill maxed out.....oh, and the DLC ;)

Congrats to ND, they deserve the praise, TLOU is a masterpiece.

Wow 0_0
230+ GOTY awards (most awarded game in history)
for a game coming very late in this gen life ?!

well done, ND
you are in your own level now

@Carheadbutt if how much time we spent on a game shows how gr8 it is then FFVII is the best game of all time because I finish it 24 times & spent in total more than 3000 hours playing it, oh yeah I forgot sorry it is the greatest game of all time how silly of me :P

Why o why1393d ago (Edited 1393d ago )

Ff7 was my first jrpg.... I remember playing it in someone elses dorm room. Some people thought I was weird or different as they'd never seen a game like that. I found myself explaining the gameplay..... that game took me away, opened my mind to other things. Well pleased when I beat sephiroth.

Tlou deserves its acclaim. I'm not as impressionable as I was back when ff7 was released as my mind was younger with less worries so to speak. I can only imagine the imprint tlou has had on those that played it through, especially those playing a title like that for the first time.

Hellsvacancy1392d ago (Edited 1392d ago )

I loved Skyrim but the loading screens killed it for me, I did platinum the game but gave up on the dlc

If this PS4 version is true I may go back to it

As for the TLOU, no competition, that's not a fanboy statement that's the truth, these awards prove that, TLOU was a BIG step for digital entertainment

gaffyh1392d ago

If Skyrim had no loading screens, that would be amazing. Hopefully Fallout 4 has less loading.

Agreed. I was very hesitant at first to drop $45 on it, but once I popped it in my PS3, I was just blown away. it is absolutely fantastic, I just started my second playthrough today! I found the multiplayer to be very confusing and "eh" however.

Metallox1393d ago (Edited 1393d ago )

Congratulations to Naughty Dog, it's always good seeing games critically acclaimed. It makes me have faith in the industry.

king_george1393d ago

Just got done playing a few matches online lol. I recommend this to anyone who loves a great story and some awesome multiplayer. And believe me, i mean AWESOME

admiralvic1393d ago

I'm not surprised. As more time goes by, more outlets start to emerge and newer outlets start to get creditability. I mean, 10 years ago there were maybe 200 total outlets giving awards and now a days we have 200+ outlets giving it to a single game. Nothing against TLOU or any game, but it certainly gets easier over time.

kayoss1393d ago

Actually the more "outlets" you have the more chances you have for some of those "outlets" to have a different conception of that game.
Think it this way. If you were to go for president and there are only 5 people you need to convinced to vote for you. Its a lot easier to convince five then it is to convince 200.

Ducky1393d ago (Edited 1393d ago )

I think the point is that since the comparisons is absolute numbers, the number of outlets skews the numbers.

The first president could convince 100% of the people... and get 5 votes.
Whereas the other guy can convince 10% of the people... and get 20 votes.
If you looked at the votes, you'd think the second guy was much better.

OrangePowerz1393d ago (Edited 1393d ago )

True, especially pre and early internet. As for recent history it should be valid when comparing it to a game 2 years there shouldn't be a huge difference in outlets.

Either way TLoU was one of the best this gen for me.

GentlemenRUs1393d ago

What can you say? They did everything right with it :P
