My Hopes And Aspirations For The Next Uncharted

As many will testify, I love the Uncharted series and what it did for the PlayStation 3 was a testament to the development teams at Naughty Dog and their philosophy on creating and developing a story and the characters involved. Although all three Uncharted titles on the PlayStation 3 gave me some of the best gaming experiences on the previous generation of consoles, there are still improvements and ideas that I would love to see incorporated into Uncharted 4 on the new powerhouse of a console, the PlayStation 4.

"Dedicated Co-op"

No, no and no

They have co-op missions for online, why would they want to base their story around means a second character is ALWAYS going to have to be with you in the game if your playing by yourself and it just dosen't work story wise when you have things like QTE and set pieces in the game.

"Many gamers have been asking for this before Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception was officially unveiled to the world" to me

Yeah characters are usually with you through the story but a lot of the times when the story needs it you will be by yourself like a proper hero, like you v.s the world.

Having someone control Elena or Sully will seen silly because the actions the AI do through the game is esstetial to the story when they are talking to you. At the end of the day they story will seem like it's based AROUND co-op and we don't want that

To be honest with Uncharted 3 I feel like ND focused too much on online stuff like the multiplayer which in the end seemed know, like every other multiplayer, so I'd rather they leave the single player alone.

Totally agree, Co-op just kills the immersion and is not needed for an UC game.

starchild1663d ago

I expect great things. I'm not really worried about it. Naughty Dog know what they are doing. I'm sure we'll find out more in the relatively near future.

Thatguy-3101663d ago

Agree! Coop should be in the multiplayer not with in the story. I do hope that the shooting mechanics aren't as off as when Drakes deception released the patch came quickly though. Uncharted 2's shooting mechanics were near perfect and smooth.

-Foxtrot1663d ago

That seems to be flaw with ND, fix the things which aren't broken, leave the things which are.

Look at the Summer Uncharted 3 beta to the one closer to release. Totally different...the Summer one was so much better they just had to improve it by listening to feedback but they didn't

Soldierone1663d ago

Not entirely right. Many games have had co-op where the character is "there" in the story, but isn't standing around. When a second player joins, the character appears, when they leave, the character disappears. Resistance Fall of Man did a good job with it.

What I hate about co-op is it often comes with trophies. "Get your friend to stop playing COD, go buy our game, and play one level with you! Otherwise, no platinum trophy for you!"

I agree with the initial issue though. I don't want it to feel like it NEEDS the co op to work. So I'm good without it.

-Foxtrot1663d ago

Yeah those trophies are bad, even the multiplayer ones, take Assassins Creed 4 for example, I'm so close yet the last 3 or 4 are online ones the worst one is "Reach Level 55"...I mean f*** that s***, Level 10 maybe or Level 15 fair enough but level 55 are they taking the p***. Why can't they just separate the online trophies from the single player ones. They've done that with the DLC.

its ND nuff said

no dedicated co-op needed. UC is a single player story driven game, not meant to be played as a co-op adventure

-Foxtrot1663d ago

Seriously it's like most gamers want everything to have co-op, ask for built up co-op games not shoving co-op into a single player game.

it's becoming sad...since single player gaming is dying out

I wonder what these guys did before online back in the PS1, NES, Mega Drive, N64 days.

showtimefolks1663d ago

i only play sigle player games for most part, its very sad that most developers are just trying for all out online game than a dedicated single player game

we all have heard this world online a lot since launch of these new consoles. Most of UBI's games for example are online connected in major ways, like Division

Whatever Uncharted is at this point, I'm positive it won't disappoint. Naughty Dog is too good at what they do. I can't wait to see gameplay at E3. Hopefully we'll see Uncharted, Mass Effect, The Order:1886, The Witcher 3, The Division, The Phantom Pain, Destiny, and other unannounced gems to come at the show. The only way I would want to see a co-op campaign for Uncharted 4 is if it were it's own, separate campaign. That would be great, but costly for the developer, so it's probably wishful thinking.

ZeoN1663d ago

Drake and Sully. Reunited and it feels so good!

DinoNYC1663d ago

Uncharted never disappoints, just improve small things and keep it how its going.

Pancit_Canton1663d ago

A prequel would be nice. A story about Sully and his days as a treasure hunter. I think the guy speaking on the teaser is the younger version of Sully. Talking about pirates and treasures.
