Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z Review | Gamergen

"Two years ... Two years of development for "it", what a mess ... Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z is an empty production lacks the soul masterpiece Toriyama. The story mode offers no interest, apart from an excuse to unlock new characters. -The soundtrack is any, the gameplay is grotesque, bland graphics, no versus offline, no corner drive farewell transformations, here is a title that comes in an unusual category, regression. Namco Bandai No one knows what to do with his license, the ride from right to left and pays the price more.

Do not beat around the bush and talk frankly, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z is a tasteless cake, already obsolete and throw it away. This production is an insult to aficionados and blasphemy worshipers of fighting games. The faithful Son Goku have the balls, but certainly not those of the dragon ..."

The game is no fun, it makes me miss the Budokai and Tenkaichi series. I adored those.

You know, call me crazy, but maybe the reason this is a terrible fighting game is because, you know, it's not a fighting game.

Much like Civilization V is not a first-person shooter.

Snookies12916d ago (Edited 916d ago )

What exactly would you classify it as? An action game? Don't get me wrong, I had some fun playing the demo, it just got stale way too fast with only one combo attack for each character...

Xof916d ago

It's a 3D action/combat game. You know, like Armored Core. The gameplay depth doesn't come from complex input and simple context, but from simple input and complex context.

DBZ fans are just stupid and assume every DBZ game has to be a fighting game.

Snookies12916d ago (Edited 916d ago )

@Xof - I don't mind if it doesn't have complex button input, I would just prefer if the animations for fighting weren't the same every time you go in for an attack. That's my issue with it. Even if it just had 3 or 4 different variations of attacking, that would go a long way to make it look much better in action.

Xof916d ago

The actual engine ArtDink is using was designed for mech games, so it probably can't handle a lot of different animation sets.

Keep in mind that it has to be able to handle the animations for all the moves of eight different characters simultaneously with zero delay and zero lag online.

And let's keep in mind they added some destructible environments.

DBZ fans have been begging for a game that tries something new with the franchise for years--for decades, actually--and now that the IP is finally in the hands of a developer willing to take the games in a new direction, most of the fans are whining that it's not another half-assed annual fighter. ~__~

It's a terrible fighting game. A terrible brawler, and a terrible action game. No matter what you might try to classify it to make it not seem worse than it is, it...is bad.'

The defense system is broken. The combat is garbage. and THERE IS NO VS CPU GAMEPLAY OUTSIDE OF MISSION MODe

It's all sorts of terrible

@XOF Yeah Z fans have been wanting something new, but they also want a game that's GOOD

This garbage ass game doesn't fill the bill. Too many restrictions, not enough content, pre order dlc ridden garbage, a mediocre and mission mode, a defense system thats broken

um, whats good about the game? Lol teams? To which it depends solely on online? Guess what kid, DBZ games online aren't known for their huge online activity. They they down tremendously after the release.

blackblades916d ago

DBZ games been bad since raging blast to me, last game I bought was burst limit and it'll stay my last DBZ game unless they make another burst/budokai game, and fix all the problems with burst limit.

Snookies12916d ago

As of the PS3/360 generation and beyond? Absolutely.

Zodiac916d ago

@snookies. Yeah, I'm surprised that term is still used. It never even made any sense to me since a good deal of words end in tard. That defeats te purpose if the whole insult since u don't which word it's referring to unless you are told. It's not. Very clever insult.

Hyper_Tension140916d ago (Edited 916d ago )

I agree im a big dbz fan but you cant deny that the naruto games are far superior, at least the the ps3/360 ones.

Myst916d ago

Whoa I thought of getting this game as well. At some point I'll need to try a demo or see if I can rent/borrow it from someone before settling on buying it. That score makes me sad.

Snookies12916d ago (Edited 916d ago )

It's probably one you could pick up for cheap later on down the road and enjoy. I wouldn't spend any more than $20 dollars on it though, if I were you...
