Ok, I don't get it. Why is PSN regularly "down" for maintenance and for such a lengthy time? Not bashing the quality of service just the fact that they actually take the whole thing offline quite often and for some lengthy time. Just seems so odd to me in this day and age.

TrueJerseyDevil1423d ago

I know it is very annoying. I stuck to my 360 last generation and kept PS3 for single player only because of this reason

I quote: "A quick caveat, if you’ve signed into PSN any time since January 20th, you’ll still have access to online games and partner apps such as Netflix during maintenance. Services affected by the downtime include the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home and account management."

AngelicIceDiamond1423d ago

@Devil Ok it isn't THAT bad. Just play some PS4 in the mean time.

If you have one.

@Dlacy13g, TrueJerseyDevil

Whats the big deal. If you want something off the store get it the day before. You can still play online and everything else. Trolls will be trolls.

TrueJerseyDevil1423d ago

@Utalkin2me

I didn't know that you can. Will i be able to make parties and stuff?

Utalkin2me1423d ago (Edited 1423d ago )

You have always been able to. No different then any other time. The schedule maintenance takes down store and account management and that is all.

Dlacy13g1423d ago

I am not trolling, lord... You question something and people get all defensive. I am glad to see the maintenance only affects the store and account management but it still begs the question why they need to go "offline" so often and for as long as they do. Could you imagine if Amazon had to go down for "scheduled maintenance"? I know its not apples to apples but it does make you wonder ...or maybe its just me.

Utalkin2me1423d ago (Edited 1423d ago )

@Dlacy13g

Cause obviously you have problem reading. If you would have read the article instead of just the title i would not be replying right now. Then you get defensive after the fact you didn't read the article. And why does it need to go offline? "Schedule maintenance".

But really comparing Amazon to PSN is funny in itself.

P.S. if you owned a PlayStation you would know they don't take the whole PSN down. They never have. Just stay in your Xbox1 articles.

Probaly getting ready for ps now. I remeber them saying that a beta was starting en of this month with a summer launch. Also thy have to provide cobtent across games, movies, music, an future patches. So i dont mind th maintance as long as it stays stable.

punisher991423d ago

I don't blame Sony. I blame the idiotic and selfish hackers out there, that targets psn.

XtraTrstrL1423d ago

Yeah, you'd think they'd slow it down with that, now that we have to have PS+ to go multiplayer with retail.

Hicken1423d ago

... Do you have any PlayStation consoles? I'm wagering the answer is no, or else you wouldn't have asked such a question.

I'm also wagering you didn't bother to read the article, either.

OrangePowerz1423d ago (Edited 1423d ago )

They are not taking the whole thing offline, just log in and store servers. You can still play online. Server maintenance isn't unusal, WoW has one every week, EvE has one every day.

Ace Killa 081423d ago

WoWs are Wednesday's correct?? I remember trying to play when I was "sick" and only to find out it was maintenance window!!

OrangePowerz1422d ago

Jep they are on Wednesday.

stavrami-mk21423d ago

that's fine, i got no games to play anyway

DoublePlusGoodGames1423d ago

Well, seeing that both Dustforce and TxK hit the first week of February, let me just say I'm happy that it is next week and not the week after. I've been looking forward to both of those titles since mid-2013.

One question to PSN users is it always these services that are affected during the Network Maintenance or does it vary? (The PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home and Account Management) If so that's actually not bad tbh seeing as the most of features people use on day to day basis will be functional.

Utalkin2me1423d ago

Exactly, people make it out to the way they want it to be. People think PSN maintenance means the whole network is down.
