A small percentage of Uncharted fans believe that Uncharted 4, or whatever Naughty Dog names the next title in the franchise needs to get rid of Nathan Drake along with Elena, Sully and also Chloe.
Why would they do that, I'm sorry but if it did happen then I would loose interest because at the end of the day the characters they've built up for the past three games are what make the franchise in general so good. They've really done some fantastic character development for these characters and built up strong roles for them for years so why get rid of them. ND are lucky because they've crafted a franchise where you can continue to keep telling stories without the worry of stretching the overall story....because there isn't an overall story, unlike something like Gears of War where you had Marcus and the gang defeat the locust, end the war and save Sera, you know thats it, it's done, adding more stories would be pushing it but with Uncharted they could keep on going because every adventure is a new story. So I would be extremely ticked off if they replaced Drake and the other characters because they've been so lucky to have these guys and at the end of the day they are characters that fans love. If they made an Uncharted game without these characters then it's not Uncharted and then should of just made a new IP. Even if it's a prequel or spin off game it should of been left for a PSV game story not a main title console story. I want to see a game with Drake and Elena from the start of the game going on an adventure, filling in the gaps to their past relationship. I mean hell...we hardly no ANYTHING about the characters and yet they are so good. Drake as a main character is such a mystery and we have three games and a prequel in. Learning that <SPOILERS> his name isn't Nathan Drake was the biggest thing we learnt about him in Uncharted 3. As for Elena and Sully even then we don't know a lot about them, Sully was a good thief and Elena gained fame by appearing on a reality show...thats it. So yeah I think the next game will focus on Drake and that guy in the reveal trailer is someone who will reveal more on Drakes past, he's going to be the reason why we learn about it
SPOILER!!!! Drake isn't his real name? sorry it's been a while since I played 3 and I must of missed that. Whats his real name then? lol OT: I agree with everything you said. If they made a new protagonist, then it was pointless to develop these characters that we love today. If they did do those however I wouldn't be extremely upset because I do trust ND I just don't think that would be the smartest choice for this next installment. We don't know anything about this game yet, not even the actual name, so hopefully this isn't the case.
Yeah Marlowe says it when she's sitting down with him, she says something like "Mr Drake....if that is your real name?" and Drake looks horrified.

Yeah but adventures without Drake is not Uncharted is it.... It's like replacing Lara Croft in Tomb Raider
Then it won't be Uncharted. The Uncharted series is a special type of case. If you remove the protagonist, it just won't feel the same in a spinoff/sequel. Other games can do since one character adventure is finished in one game. Drake has a adventure that spans time over three and more games. Though, I agree to play new protagonists in the game, but not taken as the sole player. Playing as the ancestors of Drake and Sully would be incredible piece to the next chapter. Weird how it's labeled Uncharted alluding to a prequel to the events of Drake's fortune. We'll see.
That's like removing the chief from a main Halo game or removing Kratos from God of War. Wouldn't make sense to do so unless it's a spin-off of some sort.
Hmmm... How about No, no, and hell no People can say what they want but for me a huge fan of uncharted since it's beginning. Nathan Drake is Uncharted. "A small percentage of Uncharted fans believe that Uncharted 4, or whatever Naughty Dog names the next title in the franchise needs to get rid of Nathan Drake along with Elena, Sully and also Chloe" These people are not Uncharted fans.
I agree, the whole point of the games for me is the plot and characters, im invested in them now and it would feel kind of wrong playing as a new character in drakes world. I mean naughty dog could pull it off no problem, but to me it just wouldnt be uncharted.
Im the biggest uncharted fan, amd i hate elena. Chloe is dope as hell tho.
I don't hate Elena. But I'm definitely team Chloe
It'll be a horrible decision if ND determines to focus on new characters. There are alot of questions that need to be answered especially for who's Nathan Drake, cause he's not the person that he claims to be and that small percentage is a small percentage, it's not possible. UC4 is going to flop if they abandon that cast. It's incomprehensible for that to occur. EDIT: If they introduce us with a new character, it has to be Nathan Drake's father that leads to the point to where he's born. That'll be cool.
That is a a terrible idea that is like taking Indiana Jones out of Indiana Jones
Way too early for a reboot.
I get that they are trying to appeal to the PS4 owners who made the switch from Xbox 360 and never had a PS3. But they shouldn't change the main character... it's obviously the main attraction, and if they do change it, they will be taking an unnecessary risk. But to be honest naughty dog always makes good characters that you get attached to, so whatever they do, i'm on board...
