I do get that there are a tonne of copy cat Candy games out there, which is probably annoying for King, but even half-seriously going after The Banner Saga is crazy.

There is a game on andriod called "call of infinity" and it is clearly ripping off cod and halo but it is in 3rd person for some reason!

also offtopic (kinda) I thought you couldn't trademark names of things that already exist so how did apple get trademarked?

The "Apple" trademark works somewhat as it's a business or corporate name stopping other business' from using the name "Apple" in their name but the way King is doing this trademark is by practically disallowing the use of the words "Candy" and "Saga" in any game title.

It's like trademarking the name John and saying you can't name your children John anymore.

Morons, my friend had just told me about this idiocy like yesterday. I didn't know they were also trying to trademark the word 'Candy' though. LMAO, there's no way they can win this, I hope people start coming out with games with the word 'Candy' and 'Saga' in the name together just to provoke them.

Those mobile companies are to gaming what a lot of sugar is to your teeth. Eroding the business slowly one bit at a time. All 99.9% of them can do one thing, rip off other companies amd after that they file trademarks for stuff that they copied in the first place. That's what you get when no regulations are in place like what we see on the Apple app store. And deluded people claim that mobile is the future of gaming. They create their own downfall. Luckily PC and console gaming is safe from their destructive business methods.

I personally find this to be an insult to the field and find this to be just a case of power and greed. Squash the little man syndrome and I find this to be truely dirty play. There is noway that King will win this battle with the Banner Saga as anyone can see that their games have nothing in common besides the word "SAGA". I now refuse to buy anything from this developer again and that goes out to any other developer who trys this crap and I urge everyone else to do the same.
