Star Wars 1313 – what was it? And why is it dead?

Star Wars 1313 was a new ‘next-gen’ Star Wars game that was announced at the 2012 E3 conference now well over a year ago. A third person action adventure, Star Wars 1313 unfortunately was cancelled early last year when Disney acquired Lucasarts and all of its assets, including the Star Wars franchise and the game for over a reported $4 billion.

I definitely was looking forward to Uncharted: 1313 :(

This and ZoE3 getting (semi)cancelled have been disappointing gaming news for me :(

This game looked promising...

I thought the confirmed reason for its cancellation was disney's decision to stop developing games in house, other than Disney Infinity.

LimeyGeeza3747d ago

Yeh maybe, but then why not let Lucasarts just finish up development - or pass it all onto EA who are now going to be developing all future Star Wars games?

JohnnyTower3747d ago

Lucasarts and factor 5 were pure excellence back in the day.

I agree, it just seems like execs see IP has +$ or -$ . With the hundreds of millions of dollars going into DI, they didn't feel they could justify spending on any othe game.

Not to mention, the folks at Disney had no attachment to this game at all. The new owner probably has no reservations about cutting the game because they had nothing to do with signing off on it in the first place. They probably made the decision to cut everything off before the sale was even final.

I feel bad for the talent at Lucas Arts, because Disney just didn't realize what they had.

I hope disney don't ruin the whole franchise. It's lucky it survived jarjar...

cyclindk3747d ago

Agreed, but I doubt even Disney would be psychotic enough to go as far as to pull a "jar jar" on loyal Star Wars fans again.

tigertron3747d ago

They could have just changed the name.

It was a "Next Gen" Star Wars game on Unreal Engine 3. Yep "next gen".

BG3 has won everything possible. It's insane.

That's right, well, BG3 deserved it imo.

anast4d ago

It's definitely a game of the generation if not all time.

Telltale shares new images from The Wolf Among Us 2, release 2024

The long-awaited sequel to the 2013 narrative adventure is currently expected out sometime in 2024.

BlackOni4d ago

Oh hell yeah! I feel like this was one hell of an underrated game, and I'm glad to see that a part 2 is coming.

jznrpg4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

This was my favorite Telltale game. I’m definitely going to play this. Hopefully it has less jank than the Telltale games had. I didn’t think it would happen but I’m happy it’s coming

gold_drake4d ago

right? it was sooo good, cant wait for part 2

BlackCountryBob4d ago

Great, loved the first game and happy a sequel is coming but after such a lengthy development, are Telltale gonna be releasing it episodic with non specific time delays between episodes? If it is episodic, they need to have a full set of dates laid out for every episode so we know what we are getting & when like Resident Evil Revelations 2 did, buying episode 1 and not knowing when the rest will come is just unacceptable in 2024.

I always loved Telltale games. They were like those old choose your own adventures books.
