Here's a screenshots comparison between Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes screenshots released by Konami in 1800p and 720p, possibly indicating that the game might run at the lower resolution on old gen consols.
Both looks good tho.
They do. The 720p version just has more jaggies and worse shadows/textures.
it seems like ps3 will be able to play most of multiplat games on next gen consoles and get the same content but with just lower setting and lower framerate it's not ps2 to ps3 this time
It could have been a great step if they focused on next gen but this time they saw an opportunity to get more money so they chose money over something stunning .. Sadly , this is one of the reasons why the new consoles wasn't exciting. inFAMOUS second son will be a great start :P .
Well 720P doesn't look that bad though. It isn't that jaggie. This is the editors disclaimer: "Note: the shot at the top of the post is just an artistic rendition to showcase the concept, and it’s not representative of the actual looks of the game." I had a feeling it wasn't real 720p. 720p realistically doesn't look that bad.
The game looks distinctly previous generation to me, ported onto the new consoles. That's not to say bad. It looks superb. That is just to say this game's roots are without doubt in the PS3/360 era. It seems fairly obvious this game was designed for PS3/360, and then the decision was made to make enhanced versions for Xbox One/PS4. This is no bad thing I suppose, GTA5 could easily do the same sort of thing if Rockstar are working on next gen versions.
Be honest, do you really think that 360/ps3 can process this game at 1080p with AA and sharper shadows?, I was even amazed that its even releasing for last gen.
@Ezz this is just the transitional period. Soon the games will have much larger gaps and PS4 games wont appear on PS3. Right now the PS3s install base is still too big to ignore compared to the PS4
when people say jaggies, do they mean jaggedness or lag?
Things like this will keep people from buying new consoles but game companies know they can make that money.
@Ezz2031 That's quite the ignorant comment, coming from someone who is working in the field and has for a long time. New powerful hardware always open up more possibilities that simply weren't possible on last gen. That goes for gameplay too. Cross-gen titles aren't going to show this, they are going to show mostly just graphic changes and in some cases FPS improvements but not core game design changes. The problem is that it's easy to show improvement in graphics, but trickier to show what gameplay changes are now possible that weren't possible before. But good game designers will be able to make much better, and more varied games, the more power they get. And this new gen is far from the end of the line.
They should reconsider and not make last gen ports. It takes away from the appeal of the game. Moneyhats!
They do. It's pretty obvious that the last gen versions would be 720p though. I don't think anyone was expecting 1080p native for last gen. 1080p @ 60fps for next gen? Nice.
Yep, 1080/60 is confirmed on both PS4/One afaik.
If not native, it will be upscaled.
@Pope Yeah, it will definitely be upscaled, the 360 and PS3 had pretty good upscalers too so people who are buying the last gen versions won't have anything to worry about. It won't look quite as good as the native next gen versions obviously, but still pretty good.
It's confirmed to run at 1080p @ 60fps on next gen? If it is, cool, must've missed it. Anyways, I definitiely think this game will be upscaled to 720p on the PS3 and 360.
Yeah that is REALLY nice. I can't wait to see a Metal Gear game with these graphics running @ 1080p/60FPS. It is going to be SWEEETTT!
I am honestly so excited for this story I almost don't care about graphics....almost.
"They mostly come out at night....mostly" lol
The Next Gen Versions run at 1080p/60fps so we should see a huge upgrade in fluidity.
from the article: Note: the shot at the top of the post is just an artistic rendition to showcase the concept, and it’s not representative of the actual looks of the game.
They both look good to me as well, I don't think you will go wrong whether you have a next gen system or not.
Will you see that much difference being honest I doubt it .
Well if they look exactly the same, wouldn't that be kinda odd?
Looks great but this is kind of a bad comparison, they aren't side by side and they aren't marked. Game is going to be a treat for anyone who play Last or Current gen. It will be much better when the full game comes out with GZ and PP all in one instead of this silly one mission tutorial for twenty bucks crap.
why the dumb question on the title?
Whoever wrote this knows nothing about games whatsoever.
Say's the game (Dev) .
The game MIGHT(?) run on lower resolution on old hardware? I'll be damned.
They could lower the graphical fidelity of the game itself to achieve 1080p on old gen games. Just saying 1080 is always possible on old gen. Just has to be sacrifice. Im sure x1 is sacrifising some form of graphical fidelity to achieve its 1080. We shall see.
The gameplay screenshots still look great, even in 720P. The close up shot though of Snake doesn't look right. There is no way there is that huge of a difference between 1080P and 720P.
Yeah they shouldn't have included that photo. I thought also it'd be that much of a difference but then I read this part of the article Note: the shot at the top of the post is just an artistic rendition to showcase the concept, and it’s not representative of the actual looks of the game.
Graphics are of little concern to me .... i just wanna play this game !
IMO it seems like it's 1080P PS4 and 720p One
No that should be the question of this article. Is the xbox one version at 720p? My question to you is how does it "seem" to be 1080p on PS4 and 720p on xbox one?
All I can say is this. You can tell the difference. 1080p all the way. ; )
PS4 is out.. Pre-ordered for PS4.. no looking back.. I mean I'm sure the PS3 version is just as good. but if you have next gen you bought it for a reason.. so buy the games when they start rolling out. I can't wait for MGS V: Ground Zeroes it just sucks that it comes out in March which is the middle of the semester..
Is this where we pretend that everyone notices a huge (if ANY)difference? Keep in mind these are screenshots, meaning that any difference will be less apparent in motion as well...if it gets released in 720p and upscaled to 1080p on next gen that is. I wonder how many people are going to look at the top image and say how horrible 720p is...without even reading. The right half of that picture isn't even 480i. Clearly the author/artist is trying to make the difference between 1080p and 720p seem much bigger. All you have to do is look at the pictures below to see that it's not the case.
Will Old Gen Version Have Lower Resolution? Not sure if serious....
Where is Stephamphetamine who says people can't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p? You owe us a left breast.
its 2014 720p feel like a failure because it is a failure. 1080p 60fps = next gen anything less is a failure.
Peasant still talking about 720p. hahahhahaha
Ah, well, gee, if you have a PS4, it is at 1080p and there isn't much else to discuss except how awesome it will be to play the prequel to MGS4 on the best platform, the PS4. The Android second screen is so Kojima. Did anybody else notice he has a X-Y positioning array on his monitor with some small octagon sensor device on a tripod to the side, and a dashed laser line on the table going towards the wall for the Z-axis?
how is the hottest story when it has the least amount of comments? anywho..all I can say is gimmie this game. One of my most wanted this coming year :D
Old gen? Hahahahaha... it really doesn't stop being funny. The "next gen" Xbone is going to be 720p. Sooooo.... HAHAHAHAHA
Did people actually believe that last gen hardware was going to have the same resolution as current gen?
I'm really shocked by the fact that the ps3 and x360 won't play this game @1080p ;)
