GamingBolt recently had a chance to speak Mike Bithell, creator of Thomas Was Alone, on his upcoming indie stealth title Volume.
I had no clue how good the touchpad was until I played Trine 2. I like it a lot. ^~^
It's pretty good, im still not convinced it's entirely necessary but when i used it with Warthunder, Trine 2 and AC4 i was surprised with how precise it was.
I have to give the demo a try. I'm definitely looking forward to more games using the touchpad. Really liked Escape Plans use of the touchpad, and Infamous is looking like it'll use it in unique ways.
All these 60fps games just mean the consoles will hit their fidelity ceiling sooner. Imagine how crappy GTAV would look if they opted for 60fps. It also means it'll take weaker PC specs to run. With 4K monitors already under $1,000, both the XBO and PS4 will be upscaling.
Dude nobody cares. People are still playing last gen consoles and they hit their fidelity ceiling long ago.
@ d3nworth1 Of course people care. "Resolutiongate" ring a bell? And that was just over 900p being upscaled to 1080p. Try stretching an image that's only a quarter of the screen's resolution. It ain't pretty.
Call of Duty run 600p and upscaled to 1080p. Look how well those games sell. The Ps3 and 360 were hyped up as being HD console at the beginning of last gen yet most of their games now are subHD. How many people do you hear complaining about it? Most console gamers don't even know what 1080p means. Plus realistically a dev is not going to make a game's resolution so low that if its upscaled its a blurry mess.
They'll just drop down to 30fps over time plus there's tons of dev tricks and optimising that will be helping too. Don't worry, be happy :-)
4K runs at about half the performance of 1080p for PC games. If developers aim for 1080p/60, 2160p/30 is plausible.
