Obsidian's GDC Game Reveal May Be A "Ground Breaking" Next-Gen Title, could be Fallout related

iGR: "Yesterday we caught wind that Obsidian Entertainment would be revealing a new title at GDC 2014. Beyond that we had only speculation to go on. However, after tooling around Obsidian's job postings, we think we have a better idea of what will be revealed at GDC. The posting in question is for a UI artist. The first paragraph of the listing mentions that the title in question is undoubtedly next-gen. From there, our juices get flowing."

Fallout 4 Fallout 4!!! Cheering

Mega241433d ago

I really don't want another fallout from Obsidian, Vegas had way too many option on who to kill, it was great but I actually loved 3 more then new Vegas.

nope1111433d ago

Obsidian has some excellent writers, but setting wise, bethesda is king
Capital Wasteland >>>>>>>&g t;>>>> Mojave Wasteland.

Mega241433d ago

@nope111

I understand that Obsidian is composed of most of the Black Isle devs who created the series, but its just like you said, The Capital wasteland was way better in my experience with the Mojave, I guess I prefer urban settings with some open terrain to just open terrain.

Ashunderfire861433d ago

I thought Fallout New Vegas was better, and it had better writing. More choices is better than a few. Can you imagine a next gen Fallout with even more complex choices?

-Foxtrot1433d ago

I know, I want Fallout but I don't want them doing it

They had too many stuff in New Vegas which overall complicated things, I blame the factions to be honest.

If you accidently did a mission with one faction before another it could actual f*** up a ton of missions for another faction. It all got very confusing for me and a lot of saving for done just incase anything happened. Not to mention all the endings which again complicated things

I appreciate the choices but maybe they should be done in other ways.

The factions should be taken more serious though. NCR, Brotherhood of Steel, Enclave they are good choices for factions but things like the Great Kahns, Boomers, The Kings are too silly and laughable in my opinion

xXBlondieVanHarlowXx1433d ago (Edited 1433d ago )

Wait.. Since when are too many options a bad thing?

I personally think each (3 & NV) had their flaws. Personally I think the factions were amazing. Doing one would block you out and/or shun you of another, and every choice you made for a faction made you question whether if that was the right choice or not. Or if there's even a "right" choice to begin with. There's very few games out there that can do that. But somehow alot of people simply thought "options are a bad thing" or too "complicated!!!" SMH -_-". Also hardcore mode added an entire new layer of immersion. The huge advantage 3 had over NV is...

1.(The setting) Capital was alot more interesting than the Mojave.

2. Liam Neeson.

Mega241433d ago

@xXBlondieVanHarlowXx

I didn't really mind the options, it was how they played out, I'm a perfectionist, I really like to perfect games without having to create 4 characters for going again through different playthroughs, even the Megaton bomb caused me some trouble on how I would play it out. Hardcore mode was indeed an improvement over 3, the Capital was way better then the mojave because it had urban areas with underground tunnels and stuff, I have many hundreds of hours of gameplay on both, but I find Fallout 3 more fun in the exploring side. Not everyone thinks the same way as others do, having so many factions and missing mission because you did one with another faction can really conflict with my mind. But hey, if its indeed Fallout 4 from Obsidian, I'll still buy it and play it, no matter what.

"Vegas had way too many option on who to kill"

"They had too many stuff in New Vegas which overall complicated things"

This is what generation 7 brought to the gaming. The cancer that is killing videogames, ladies and gentlemen.

webeblazing1433d ago (Edited 1433d ago )

i doubt its a new fallout. most likely a new game they already have a few kickstarters. on they in a interview they stated how they hated working with big publishers and how they killed creativity last gen(kinda weird since they published their own game). most likely its the wheel of time a game they been working on for a while

watch project eternity dev session

webeblazing1433d ago (Edited 1433d ago )

my fault bethesda usually publish their games. it around 5:00 when they start talking how the industry works and how they put out rehashes

No way would Bethesda out source a numbered main entry to the fallout series, unless they are working in conjunction with them just outsourcing a few smaller things to help with the load

thekhurg1433d ago (Edited 1433d ago )

Why not?

New Vegas was amazing. Obsidian have some of the best writers in the industry, plus almost their entire core team came from Black Isle Studios, which is the original team responsible for Fallout and Fallout 2.

Bethesda is too focused on The Evil Within, and probably providing Zenimax Online a lot of support for ESO. Obviously they're working on the TES 6 as well, since it's their bread and butter franchise.

aliengmr1433d ago (Edited 1433d ago )

I actually agree, New Vegas wasn't really a numbered sequel so I don't see them handing fallout 4 to Obsidian.

That's not to say I have anything against Obsidian or New Vegas, just that it seems unlikely.

I would love it if Obsidian was developing Fallout 4, but I highly doubt it.

-Foxtrot1433d ago

I see them giving them a spin off of Fallout 4 to do in my opinion.

Dark3stShadow1433d ago

But who ever said the next fallout would be a numbered sequal?...this is all assumptions.

I'm hoping for FO4! Don't get me wrong, Fallout 3 was amazing and, in fact, my favorite of the two. But New Vegas was also outstanding. I played them both to death. I would rather see the game developed by Bethesda, but as long as Obsidian doesn't use that godawful Gamebryo engine again, I'll be pleased.

Also, NO MMO's. Single player only!

Jeedai Infidel1433d ago

If it were done in a Borderlands fashion I could be on board with that. I played Fallout 3 alot while chatting with my cousin while he also played, and we constantly wished we could play together.

Z_-_D_-_31433d ago (Edited 1433d ago )

For all we know, Bethesda could be secretly working on a brand new IP set for reveal this E3 and handing Fallout off to Obsidian for another entry. You know those types of industry surprises that roll around once in a while...

Stop playing with my glass case of emotion! :'(

MestreRothN4G1433d ago (Edited 1433d ago )

This again? I'm not talking about the 20th fake announcement of Fallout. But could very well be. Half Life 3 confirmed? Fallout 4 annoucement confirmed.

Talking about overhyping and stupid sites echoing it.

Today's logic:
"Tomorrow a publisher PR will fart" -> IT WILL BE GROUNDBREAKING! EVERYONE STAY ALERT!

ginsunuva1433d ago

We all know it's a game about jackhammers and other ground-breaking tools.

WeAreLegion1433d ago

Please don't. I want the main Bethesda team doing Fallout 4.

SlapHappyJesus1433d ago

First off, they need to hire actual writers.
Second, they need to stop casualizing their games into generic borefests.
I used to like their games . . .
Well, I liked Morrowind . . . but still.

Gh05t1433d ago

This!

I played Morrowind one summer straight. I loved it. Oblivion was good. Better graphics and still a good game. Skyrim... Well its pretty... but it sure didn't feel like an TES game to me.

Dlacy13g1433d ago

I don't care who makes Fallout 4, just make sure its great Bethesda.
