Need For Speed: Rivals Review - The Digital Fix

Need for Speed: Rivals is the latest twitch-racer from Electronic Arts, following on from last year’s Most Wanted. The Need for Speed franchise has been around for twenty years now but much of the noughties saw forgettable entries from various studios until EA tasked their leading racing light - Criterion Games - with reviving the series and taking it back to its roots in 2010. That year saw the release of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, a return to the series’ staples of fast cars, police chases and just stunningly good arcade racing. This year Criterion has handed over to Ghost Games. In-between Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted we had The Run from EA Black Box and whilst it looked as pretty as the games it was bookended by, it didn’t match the exhilaration and total enjoyment of Criterion’s propositions (Need For Speed: Rivals, PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One) 8/10

NFS MOST WANTED wiiu go buy it the game is a master piece wow yes i have access to rivals ps4 and Mostwanted wiiu/pc and Mostwanted wiiu beats it in all areas.....

NFS rivals ps4 scores a 80 on metacritic but users score it 69

NFS Mostwanted U scores 86 on metacritic but users score it 72

So lets add both main score and user score

ps4 rivals 149
WiiU MW 158

R U fuking kidding!!! Criterions Hotpursuit and Mostwanted was crapola. and RIVAL all 3 of these games are Burnout with NFS slap on as a hopeful title.
if Ghost Games can't make a decent NFS game without it feeling like Burnout while SLIDING every fuking corner. do we REALLY need to slide around every single corner??? give it back to Blackbox studio allow them a second chance im sure they'll pump out exciting frostbyte engine type games.still play blackbox HP2 passed up all criterions atempts and ghost games Rival.
a good NFS you have a beginning and a FINISH LINE. point A to POINT B not a continuation of driving cop bust you for passing finish line. RIVAL in the trash can where it belongs.

where is the soul of need for speed?? maybe EA Canada can revive it.

Most wanted U textures destroy rivals.....Criterion are just the best.

Same reviewer gave Most wanted U a 9/10 so pow.....he also states that Mostwanted U is better in sound and graphics...basically says the wiiu game is aggressive and much more fun.

Where are the city scapes in rivals ??? all i see is deserts which is alot easier to render....

Got Rivals and really tried to get into it, but it just doesn't click. The world feels empty and boring and that I can only play one path instead of replaying the others afterwards is annoying. I would have preferred an open world game that has a normal progression like Most Wanter or Burnout Paradise.

Most wanted U is king of NFS games end of the collisions the engine noises, the graphics, the solid frame rate, the sense of speed, everything is better on WiiU.....not to mention its the best sandbox version.

Rivals seems limited by xbox1 and ps4 ? weird

You have no clue what your talking about. The PS4 and X1 versions are the best the WiiU is running the 360 and ps3 version, even the pc version was running the last gen version.

I thought EA stopped making WiiU games. And anyone who is a need for speed fan who likes Most wanted by critterion I question their taste.
