Tantalus’ Secret Wii U Game: Need for Speed Rivals?

Mass Effect 3 Special Edition developer Tantalus, is working on a secret Wii U port from a top-notch developer. Some early signs point to Need for Speed Rivals being Tantalus' secret Wii U game. (Wii U)

Rivals for Wii U? WTF
starfox079  +   250d ago
I would laugh if it were and it hit 60fps......haha

Anyway NFS MOST WANTED U is much better in textures, lighting, sound, sense of speed,fun.....

I seriously doubt it, but there's still a chance it could be.
I hope it isn't. We have a bunch of other racing type games coming that AREN'T ports, Mario Kart 8, Project CARS, Fast racing Neo...

So a really late port of a racing game doesn't seem so exciting..

Did you read the reasons why it could be Need for Speed Rivals?
Concertoine  +   251d ago
i would be sad if it was, because it would come out like 6 months too late again, sell bad, then they'd blame wii u owners for not buying the game.
JackieCruise69  +   251d ago
Yes, of course I have.

You made some good points. But there are still many other games it could be. I guess I shouldn't doubt it too much, but I wouldn't exactly make such a big deal over NFS Rivals.

That's just me personally, though. I'd be a little disappointed if they revealed this as their 'exciting' game port.

Oh ok, I was just asking. I would be disappointed if it was rivals as well. However, if it was priced right, I would pick it up.

Exactly why EA will do it
for we are many  +   251d ago
Hopefully not! I played rivals on PC and it's like a chore. NFS games have gone stagnant for long time now, I wish they go back to their root-style on ps1/2. I don't like the "new" narrative handholding and voice in the menus all the time it feels like all the new-age generic garbage that have plagued almost all racing car games produced in recent years, please try to go back to old-school ways and let us explore and dive into action "meat" without hand-holding and overly unnecessary narrative. Maybe I am getting old or out of style for these games, but this is how I genuinely feel.

Again after aLL the other versions!?No thanks EA,get it at the same time or for me atleast dont release it at all!

Blackbox studio need to redeem themselves bring back old school style 2 player NFS no autolog crap nor alldrive crap.
that alldrive don't work well you only can race once with a buddy jump in for one race after that he can't find you ,you cant find his race.

EA nominated for the worst company awards third time and then THIS happens... coincidence? :P
wheresmymonkey  +   251d ago
I have a feeling that they might be working on a HD port of another GC game for Nintendo themselves. They tend to go where the talent is when they want to have external teams work for them and Tantalus did a great job on both ME3 and Deus Ex despite poor sales.
wonderfulmonkeyman  +   251d ago
If this is yet another late port, it's only going to reaffirm my suspicion that certain third parties just don't know how to make games for the Wii U, since they're using mostly ports.
Ck1x  +   251d ago
People are definitely getting their studios mixed up as the Tantalus did not port ME3 or Deus Ex, that was Straight Right! But seeing as how Tantalus does have a good relationship with EA, it could be an EA game...
Theyellowflash30  +   251d ago
Tantalus is the sister company to Straight Right. They did indeed have a hand in ME and Deus Ex. Straight Right was just the main studio.

*SUPEROMEGAFACEPALM* It makes sense, so I hope it isn't Rivals, I mean, EA stopped publishing Wii U games because they weren't winning money, but still, knew they screwed up with FIFA 13 and Mass Effect 3, not very good ports. But then, Most Wanted came, perhaps one of the best Wii U ports to date, and its commercial performance was horrible. So I'm not very sure why would EA make the same error twice.
AKR  +   251d ago
EA sabotaged the launches of all four of their titles that they put on Wii U - so it's their fault they didn't profit.
Metallox  +   251d ago
Agree. I bought FIFA 13 for 9 dollars... I'm glad I didn't pay for it more, because I even looked for it at launch. Well, just starting the game for the first time, just pressing the + button, it froze my console. Eventually, I could start the game normally, but it keeps freezing the console on tournament and manager modes. Horrible game, and I don't doubt FIFA 13 and Madden NFL 13 have the same problems, aside from Need For Speed MWU, which it's a great game on Wii U.

Its dicey but it may work. Right now the rush of all the cool first party games is dwindling and we could use Rivals to swell the ranks. Especially if done right. Most wanted wasn't bad at all.
