Capcom's Kazunori Sugiura explains the company's vision: the future of gaming is social (although not necessarily in the way you think).
We need games like skyrim to have different experiences as gamers
This + their " games take 8-10 times longer than last gen to develop" leads me to believe that whoever is in charge over there has literally NO IDEA WTF They are doing.
And you are one of the people that didn't read that article because it didn't say 8-10 times longer. 8-10 times harder to work on. Big huge difference.
Why does it take 8-10 more work ? It shouldn't. If your improving the technology then the workload should be less right ?
Sony did make it easier for developers to learn the software a lot faster compared to the last few generations. They made this with developers in mind for the first time but to develop new game engines to maximize next gen graphics will take a lot more work still. When u start a game u still start from scratch. Sony doesn't provide u with a game engine. U decided if you want to use a 3rd party game engine or develop your own game engine. With these big studios there making there own game engine. The engine is a lot more complex than what last gen could handle. Then you come to the art side. To create more detailed environments and characters takes extra work to. The more realistic you want the game to look the more it will take till develop for.
"Why does it take 8-10 more work ? " Manpower. Ps4 and X1 raise the fidelity of most games. Which will require more manpower.
So Capcom = Zynga?
Hopefully not, that will be a real shame. I loved so many games of theirs
The classic survival horror experience of Resident Evil dose not enjoy playing with others Capcom... It told me it hates your new idea Capcom.
Well, a more subtle way of connecting each other similar to Dark Souls wouldn't be harmful though.
Thats not what they mean though. Not at all. Its a means to make it always online and sell microtransactions.
Me: "People will stop playing games, in the future." Does every company feel the need to say idiotic things, that turn people away from their products, nowadays? What the hell?
Time to start selling IPs I say...
Right there with you. They own some of my favorite games of all time and decided to destroy/abandon them this entire generation. Can't believe what they've become. SMDH.
I'm not going to lie, I am too. I remember playing RE 4 like as if it was yesterday, and I remember that was the full version of the game, and I was like "God damn Capcom", you made a great game, but now, I played Ashura's Wrath and I was like "God damn, I'm a fool for buying a 75% completed game".
Their next game is Alien:Socialization
Who the hell is running Capcom?
"At Capcom, we define social games as means for facilitating communication among users and something in which game elements and MONETIZATION are involved" Straight from the horse's mouth.. at least they're honest I guess.
i dont want to think of real people when i play a video game i want to be the hero by myself Muhahahaa XD
Crapcom has had 1 foot in the grave for so long now. Either step all the way in and die already, or do the right damn thing for once. They've been a shell of their former selves for a while now. I really don't understand how a publisher that has so many mainstream and cult classic franchises can be at a point where they are so broke they can't make a Street Fighter game for current gen and next gen at the same time. Maybe if you stopped outsourcing for all your major titles they'd come out a little better quality. I don't even feel bad for them, because so many of their choices have to do with desperately attempting to rob the consumer, and it's worse when it's a franchise they know has a strong, dedicated hardcore fanbase, and they ruin it to try and make it more appealing to casual gamers. Kind of like what they did with SF4 with focus attacks and such, though the SF team is always amazing, and they still pulled off a good game, I do really hate focus attacks. They ripped everyone off who bought MvC3, by not even 9 months later releasing Ultimate MvC3, which you had to buy again, no upgrading. They said they wouldn't make 4 versions of SF4, they went back on their word there. They jerked people who bought SFxTekken by locking major characters like Blanka on the disc, so you had to pay extra money for a 100kb unlock code to play as characters already on the disc you bought. They are one of the few companies that have repeatedly chosen to go the DRM route with a plethora of their games. They just suck ass basically. I'm glad the Resident Evil creator and the Megaman creator are off on their own, making spiritual successors to their games. If only the SF team could break away, yet hold on to SF. Well, I can dream.
Capcom is so out of touch with gamers I just cant take anything they say seriously.
I hope against hope, just too fond of their games.
I want to say that i wish the leader of Capcom to get fired. However, i think all of the leaders feel this way. Considering that this believe is so far away from what gamers want, i just want Capcom to fail. They are no longer doing anything worth while. They are ignoring the base that made them who they are and their beliefs are so far from the norm of said base. I mean first it was games take 8-10 times longe to make this gen. What? LOL. Thats utter nonsense. Dev time is actually shorter this time around. Much much shorter. It just as easy to dev for next gen as it is for deving on PC. In fact games just port right over, simple. You can dev for all 3 at the same time. Capcom is ruining gaming not helping it. Its time for them to go, sell their franchise to western companies. (Western companies seem to be the only companies still sticking up for traditional gaming. Japanese publishers are all about, F2P, social bullshit. Its time we stand up and not buy this games. I am not even going to touch Deep Down, its looks bland, boring, uninspired and with the F2P tag, it kills it for me completely. One of the biggest reasons i hate Capcom is. When they completely shit on their own franchise. And they end up not selling well, instead of going hey, we must have done something wrong with the game. They blame the market, they blame gamers interest. And instead of going hey lets try again and give our games justice, they do hey maybe they rather have F2P instead. Its total nonsense. They have complete chimps running that company. And i am being mean to chimps.....
I fear for CAPCOM :(
So far it appears this gen might be their last. Not even the greatness of the PS4 (similar to PS2) will bring them back to their ways when they worked on the PS2. They have so many loved games people want to see again, but they chase the ideas of westernized games and quick profits.
I will make sure to avoid Capcom in the future.
So, between this and RE shooting for the 13-18 crowd through FASHION magazines I've decided that I no longer care about Capcom. At all.
Ehh. I wouldn't throw them under the bus for that. The older gamers are not gonna be around forever and the industry in which Capcom is part of needs to get a newer (and younger) audience to sell their products to to ensure their viability in the future.
Does that mean its RE Outbreak #3?? Im reading too much into it.
Lets not forget the Breath of Fire mobile fiasco.
Can we please forget that? PLEASE? I spent the whole seventh generation waiting for news of the next Breath of Fire, and when I FINALLY get word, it's at the end of the gen, and for mobile devices to boot. While I waited for that fateful announcement, they rubbed me all sorts of wrong ways by constantly trolling and abusing their fanbase(80,000 forms of Street Fighter IV and selling true endings to Asura's Wrath- which was an awesome game- to charging for content locked away on the disc you just bought. I just... I have less faith in them than in Microsoft, and that's saying something. All I can hope for now is that they DON'T revive Rival Schools.
Kornbeaner: Capcom will be broke in the future.
How about no?
Sociable games i don't mind, ones that either get all your mates in one place or make you need to create a team to suceed, but considering this is capcom we can expect them to go about this the wrong way. Monster Hunter 5 - "Congratulations you killed a Ratholos, share this post on facebook?", "Sorry, you cannot go on this quest for the next 2hrs unless you spam all your friends on facebook to get a gem first" etc etc etc
so it begins....
It began a while ago. This is just another step for them.
I don't like that gaming is changing in that way. I love to own a game cartridge in my hands and not only a rom file. The best could be to have the two choices but with different prices....I can't explain why Nintendo has the games for sale at eshop with higher or same prices than a retail game...
hopefully capcom will be dead in a few years and all its franchises sold off to publishers who dont have contempt for gamers
