PlayStation Now gets overwhelmingly positive feedback from gamers, research firm finds

GameZone writes, "Of the more than 20,000 Twitter hits relating to this year's Consumer Electronic Show, 66% had to do with Sony's latest development -- the announcement of PlayStation Now. Sifting through the Twitterverse, social media research firm Fizziology found that a whopping 96 percent of "organic opinions" (those coming from people who are not in the industry) towards PlayStation Now were "positive"; only 4 percent was negative."

Great ideas for gamers from the gamers themselves

But is the service aimed towards core gamers?

It seems to be a great perk for smart TVs and phones, but we all played most of these games on their original and lag ( http://www.viewfromthebluer... ) ... input free versions, didn't we?

lifesanrpg1677d ago

Yes, but some people want to replay them. and for PS4 owners who dont have those systems still, this is a nice opportunity

I think this is now the right time.....the powa of the cloud is real again!

It is a great old idea, but the problem with execution is cost and technology!

When you are paying, and then you get that laggy experience, it ain't going to be positive buzz....

Two kilers:

a) price
b) technology! Most people's internet speed isn't stable or up to snuff.

Why not just keep the older console, and buy the games used or whatever. Superior experience, and not having to be tied to the cloud. Isn't that what people wanted?

I agree with everything you said besides that. I don't see how Playstation Now prevents anyone from doing that to begin with?

It's not like the PS4 is going away anytime soon and we all knew this was coming when Sony first announced the PS4 back in Feb...

Good to see that the initial feedback is positive though.

Convenience, and true cloud streaming exhibition. That's what people want: choices. This is nothing to do with being "forced" to connect to the cloud.

It's weird how you're counting out the fact you can stream PS3 games to Vita, and other devices with only the need for a DualShock controller, and eventually will extend to Sony's gargantuan back catalogue, as well as PS4 games. It's a monumental proposition and something that will hold them in good stead going forward. This is the cloud with truly forward-thinking and tangible benefits to all kinds of gamers.

The two "killers" you mention, are not even set in stone, nor are real potential-threatening issues. The service will only get better and better with time, experience and further investment. Gaikai is the smartest investment Sony has made in a long, long time and it will take them much further than PlayStation Now already is about to.

Agreed. Plus you got a 2nd bluray, and it still plays DVDs and CDs unlike ps4 because they want to push videos /music unlimited. Plus ps3 has free online....something they hate now thanks to the brain dead fan boys.

well yea, PSnow seems completly AWESOME! (from the demos) who would say it sucks? oooooooh yea...

mcstorm1677d ago

I think Ps now is a great idea and I'm glad people are liking it but I still wish Microsoft had there original idea for the Xbox one in place too as for me the + out weighted the - but that's the past now.

What will be interesting is seeing how much this will cost and how many people take it up.

What I love about this article is that you could just ask people, about anything they've never had or used, and as long as it sounds cool the responses will be positive. That counts as news!

Of course its going to be cool, if it works the way it says its going to.

Gamers are a fickle bunch. One slip up by Sony and its all doom and gloom. PSNow sounds great in concept. The execution is when the pressure will be on. I personally think its a great idea.
