Wii U Fit Released Today

It’s a new year. Why not start it off with a new “U”? On January 10, the retail version of Wii Fit U for Wii U hits stores, just in time to help people get started on their New Year’s resolutions to be more active and get fit. But Wii Fit U doesn’t require heavy equipment or expensive gym memberships. With Wii Fit U, users can get active by navigating a luge course, spraying a water hose, bouncing on a giant trampoline and even grabbing the new Fit Meter to continue their workouts on the go. Fitness doesn’t get any more fun than this.

“Wii Fit U makes fitness fun. It’s as simple as that,” said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice-president and general manager. “Wii Fit U is a great option for busy moms and families who want to stay active in the comfort of their own homes – which is perfect during the cold winter months.”

Well, now we'll see if their advertisements will bring in any new blood, since a lot of casuals will be looking for the physical version instead of the digital one.

Sly-Lupin1432d ago

I doubt it. The casual demographic probably won't see any reason to buy WiiU Fit when they already own Wii Fit, and only ever played it the one or two times.

Much as is the case with Wii Sports.

wonderfulmonkeyman1432d ago

Unless you take the new games on it into account, not to mention the fact that most of them played the games more than just once or twice...

Sly-Lupin1432d ago

@monkeyman: Who's "you?" Do you really think casual gamers are going to care that it's slightly faster, or has different mini-games? They're casual--by definition, they don't care about these things.

Remember, these are the SAME people who think the WiiU is the same thing as a Wii.

wonderfulmonkeyman1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

And you know how all casual gamers think, since when?

I happen to know quite a few at this point who know quite well and do care about the differences.
The game's designed with them in mind; of course they're going to ask themselves what's different between versions when it's a casual game.

Wii Fit U has just as much potential to sell as Wii Sports did, especially once the advertisement efforts go up.
I don't think it's going to boost the Wii U into Wii's kind of sales or anything, but it should definitely help sales pick up a bit.

I suspect you are casual..

Kos-Mos1432d ago

So, according to your logic, the casuals that so easily fall for ifad 5 or 4s or whatever don`t care when the new one releases?
In my opinion, you have absolutely NO understanding of marketing. Actually that was a fact.

I downloaded the trial for me and my girlfriend.
We`re loving it since we do work out a lot both home and outdoors.
There is plenty of good and new content if you care about your body and mind, but it is not a game.
Most people do not know that if you work out, you`ll be happier. So fat and lazy people playing games, wise up and be happy.

BadlyPackedKeebab1432d ago

Most people dont know either that if you work out it will not help you drop bodyfat (certainly not without doing some full on HIITs). Exercise is almost completely about health, fitness and mental improvement and not about fat management.

80% of fat loss is through diet. To clarify, thats "diet" (what you eat) not "diet" (how much you eat).

All I am saying is anyone hoping to loose fat through wii fit is being mugged. People who actually know about fitness (not the mainstream bs thats put out know you tackle excess bodyfat with...

Nutrition (Quality protiens and fats with an appropriate carbohydrate amount for your training level)

then

Sleep

then

appropriate exercise. Normally not extensive cardio as generally this is going to tell your body to keep hold of fat and even store it up because it thinks you will need it. HIITs and light weights will yield the best results for most.

Sorry, just gets on my tits that all these people are thinking playing wii fit and burning calories will make them drop fat. The whole calorie thing is a complete myth.

You need to back up those comments with proper refferences.

It's only $20 to get the Health Meter and upgrade the trial version from the Shop Channel to the full version.

thezeldadoth1432d ago

its funny watching you "hardcore" players talk about "casual" players and their tendencies.
