Thank You for an Epic 2013, 3 Million Xbox one's Sold

XBOX WIRE - Together, we ushered in a new era of games and entertainment with Xbox One. Over 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in 13 countries before the end of 2013. It’s been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honored to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the U.S. during our launch month in November. Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide. We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible.

Impressive numbers. Well done Microsoft.

GarrusVakarian1473d ago (Edited 1473d ago )

Ill just copy and paste my comment from the duplicate article.

"The gaming industry is in decline" People said.

"Mobile gaming will take over" People said.

Congrats MS, 3 million units sold in such a short time is damn impressive. Sales from both console just prove that gaming has never been better off as it is now.

I also note they are still holding onto the "fastest selling console in November" line. Picking and choosing dates to suit their argument is a little sketchy. No but seriously, well done MS.

nukeitall1473d ago

MS sold through to consumers over 3 million consoles with only 13 markets. That is pretty damn good!

JohnnyBadfinger1473d ago

I just picked up a Xbox one yesterday and at the same time asked when they are getting more ps4s in an all the guy in dispatch could say was "No idea, if not next week probably end of January an most are already spoken for."

I walked in a got the second last Xbox one they had left in stock but they are getting another 20 on Wednesday so it's a none issue.

Eonjay1473d ago

This means that the VGCharts are spot on.

jackanderson19851473d ago

They're off by at least 100k if not more as MS didn't give the exact number of consoles sold and vg has it at less than 2.9mil

B1663r1473d ago

Fakechartz stealth updated moments after this announcement.

In anything this confirms that are fake.

DiRtY1473d ago

3 million for a $500 console is pretty good.
Well done.

Now give me Titanfall, Quantum Break and Halo 5.

xDHAV0K24x1473d ago

Too expensive they said...

come_bom1473d ago

In all honesty i did not expect Microsoft to sell so many X1's in 2013, specially for a 500€ console. Congrats.

Let's see if they can continue with those sales in 2014.

goes to show how bad vg chart'z numbers are, According to vg sony had a 1 mil lead at 3.4 mil, guess thats dead wrong, unless of course the PS4 sales are off too. i wonder if this article will get approved.

KillerByte231473d ago

but remember PS4 is out in 48 countries so obviously it will sell more when more people can get there hands on one

Cueil1473d ago

only if they are producing more and from what I understand that simply not the case... the local Walmart has sold out of three stocks of Xbox Ones in the time only got a single shipment of PS4s. Sony is making around the same amount off consoles a week, but they've stretched themselves... it lets them get nearly 100 percent sell through, but creates bottle neck in the US... that's not good for Sony's long term strategy. If Microsoft can get the kind of dominance again it's not good for Sony.

jackanderson19851473d ago

no reason it wouldn't be approve (minus people reporting errors and said errors being uncorrected).

and vg numbers have always been wrong, nobody puts any faith in them as they basically make them up based on what they hear rather than hard data

Godmars2901473d ago

if you're doubting one set of data how are you accepting another from the same source?

Either numbers are right on one side or they're wrong on both.

MidnytRain1473d ago

A video with Pachter said VG isn't reliable until a game has been out a while, then their numbers are more accurate.

JarqueMcLark1473d ago

Huh? VGChartz says 2.9m (as of December 28th) for Xbox One - it is spot on.

Cueil1473d ago

They adjust when new numbers come in

MasterCornholio1473d ago

Right now VG says that 2.9 million Xbox Ones have been sold while 3.8 million PS4s have been sold. I dont know where your getting 3.4 million from.

Cueil1473d ago

I understand the adjusting of the Xbox numbers, but was there some reason they adjusted the PS4 numbers the same?

B1663r1473d ago

It will get approved, but the n4g heat ratings are fake. So it will quickly fall off the front page in spite of being huge news.

Wow, 3 million consoles in 40 days is pretty impressive, for a console with so much controversy and hate leading up to launch. I'll be getting mine in 2 months!

mcstorm1473d ago

I agree and I hope you enjoy it as much as I am enjoying mine.

Bolts-N-Rays11091473d ago

I can't wait for mine. I was playing my friends XB1 all winter break.

Kayant1473d ago

Wait! It's only been that long.... Damn MS & Sony sure are doing well. This is great for the console industry.

bunt-custardly1473d ago

Now compare to VGcharts to see the discrepancy or accuracy in their numbers. As of the 21st. VGcharts suggests some 2,588,000 worldwide sales of the Xbox One.

jackanderson19851473d ago

i do agree with you that vgchartz is usually skewed in their numbers but ur comparing 21 December data with 31 December data... of course there'd be differences

rdgneoz31473d ago

The day after Christmas tends to be considered the 2nd biggest shopping day in the US next to Black Friday, since everyone has gift cards / cash from the day before.

JarqueMcLark1473d ago

The numbers have been updated on the front page - 2.94m as of December 28th so spot on really.

4logpc1473d ago

Good number. Glad to see such strong numbers.
