CVG- Games of the Generation:- 20-1

CVG Staff writes:- The first three podcasts in the five-part series were devoted to going through a lengthy list of the highest rated games released this generation - plus our personal favourites. Discussing each one, Andy, Rob, Chris and Tamoor kept those they felt were contenders to be voted as the top games of the generation, and eliminated those they didn't. (BioShock, Grand Theft Auto V, PC, Portal 2, PS3, Super Mario Galaxy, The Last Of Us, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Wii, Xbox 360)

For those who don't have time to listen to podcast for 5-1, here's the pick:-

5. The Last of Us
4. Grand Theft Auto V
3. Portal 2
2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
1. Super Mario Galaxy

Swap TLOU with Uncarted 2 and I would find it hard to disagree. Galaxy 2 however is I think the better Galaxy game but I see why the original was picked.

The original Bioshock didn't have the vertical scale of Infinite but Infinite didn't often fully use that vertical scale anyway outside of skyrail sections. Infinite has a superb game dying to get out somewhere between the original trailer we saw and the regimented game we got that was polarised between completely peaceful (if atmosphere setting) areas and completely dangerous areas. If you could cross it with Dishonored it would be gorgeous.

As it is, the original Bioshock probably deserves large honours for actually being very scary and influential.

terrible choices CVG. Super Mario Galaxy? Really? i mean, the game was fun, and they changed it up a bit, but it's nothing special at all.
