Whether or not Next Gen is "worth it" depends entirely upon the console you want and the budget you have to work with. If you don't have the money for the specific console you want and you're not willing to give anything else a try by becoming a multiplatform gamer, then I guess you're SOL...[btw, I highly recommend owning at least two home console systems, one Nintendo and either a Sony or Microsoft alongside it, to get a well-rounded mix of first, third, and indie games.] I will always recommend that someone save up for as long as it takes in order to have at least two home consoles in the recommended mix. Other than that, pretty much anything goes. 3DS, Vita, PC, whatever you can reasonably support. The more you have to work with, the more games you can experience and the more well-rounded and respectable your opinions on many games will likely become. There are, sadly, many exceptions to that supposition, but if you're not biased too much towards any one company or game, then in general you SHOULD become a more reliable source for balanced opinions by being a multiplatform gamer...
PC is a viable option as well. Especially if you already have one so all you have to do is upgrade some parts. The software is cheap and varied and there isn't a pay wall for online. You can't go wrong with any option you do decide to choice though as long as you are having fun with it.
Why is WII U tagged in this also its not "next gen" its "current gen" This article is a worthless POS.
You're right. The WiiU is current gen. The PS4, XboxOne, and WiiU are all current gen systems. Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii are past gen systems.
I know when i try to explain this to them people rage at me... Who fanboys of what.
ps4 edit: and wii u ya xbone no
Truthfully the *next-gen tag has ended. Both PS4/XBox ONE are "now" the current-gen consoles. Wii U is technically a last-gen console along with PS3/XBox360.
"Wii U is technically a last-gen console along with PS3/XBox360." How is it technically last-gen? Contrary to what a lot of people think, generations are not 100% dependent on specs and something does not become "next-gen" by merely having better specs. I mean, for your statement to make sense, you would have to concede that Nintendo made two consoles last generation, the generation before that or that Nintendo is no longer considered part of any generation. Since none of this makes any sense, the Wii U is and should be considered current generation, because it's the the latest console from Nintendo, just like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are for M$ and Sony respectively.
The Wii is Nintendo's last geb system. The Wii U is the system that Nintendo put out to compete with the current gen, even though it came out a year earlier. Thats like saying that because Xbox 360 came out almost a year before PS4, that it then became a last gen system. It doesn't work like that.
Too much school girl giggling - we'll annoying.
