Halo Spartan Assault Review: Xbox One Gets A Good Halo Game | Gaming Blend

On first glance, Halo: Spartan Assault looks like a cash-grab: a top-down shooter with Halo characters designed to gobble up some easy money from series fans. The game shouldn't be written off so quickly, though.

Milk milk milk milk milk $$$$$

Gabenbrah3768d ago

Tell that to the Uncharted trading card game on PSVITA XD

Stopher923768d ago

Well it seems to me that they learned from their mistake, while M$ keeps milking Halo regardless of what ppl think.

SG1_dapunisherX3768d ago (Edited 3768d ago )

every halo games is different stopher92 how they are miking it

Stopher923768d ago

Let's not forget Halo ODST. Which was SUPPOSED to be $30, but good ol M$ milked it for all it was "worth" and marked it up to $60. This is just another example of how M$ is in the mindset of "quantity over quality".

And what do people think about Halo? Did you do a survey on the whole gaming community? And what were the results of your study?

Gabenbrah3768d ago (Edited 3768d ago )

You seriously going to argue MS charging $60 for Halo ODST a 5 - 6 hour top quality campaign with memorable characters, great gameplay, fantastic story and an open world to explore with an addicting Fire Fight mode which offered tons of replayability and also offered every single Halo 3 map for one of best MP games this generation with also 3 new maps for Halo 3 while Sony release Knack, a 5 hour god awful campaign, laughable characters, linear and extremely generic gameplay, god awful story and Knack is rated as one of the worst games of 2013 and they charge you $60... Yeah, who's really ripping you off? *Cough Sony*

gamer20133768d ago (Edited 3768d ago )

God awful? Is god really awful? Sorry, I'm not trying to troll you just pointing out a possible unintentional mistake in you're wording.

Stopher923768d ago

Well that's your opinion. I played Knack and enjoyed it. It's also very fun when you're playing with a friend. And you could always purchase knack used for a cheaper price. But it's a next gen launch title, do you really think they're gonna price it under $60? They just released a console, they gotta try to make money. I'm not 100% agreeing that it's worth $60, but it is what it is. If you bought Halo used, you'd have to worry about the DVD being scratched, at least PS3/PS4 has Blu-ray Discs which obviously don't scratch as easily. Just saying. It was easier to buy used games on PS3. But anyway, Knack will go down in price soon I'm sure.

Gamer6663768d ago

Max Curse of Brotherhood runs circles around Knack...

gamer20133768d ago

Silly considering all the milkage of Sony games.

Gamer6663768d ago (Edited 3768d ago )

God of war, God of war II, God of War III, God of War Betrayal, God of War Chains of Olympus, God of War III, God of War Ghosts of Sparta, God of War Ascension...

All since 2005... That's an average of a game per year!

Then, the HD, re-makes, and ports...

God of War Collection, God of War Origins Collection, God of War Saga...

Yep, Sony is well-versed in milking!

Gamer6663768d ago

This is a very fun top down dual stick shooter... It isn't milking the franchise at all. It is just as good and deep as the best top down dual stick shooters out there...

I got it on my Win 8 and Win Phone... Because of this, I got it for $4.99 on my X1... In total I have it on three platforms and only paid $15.00 for it in total. You can hardly call that milking.

The Top Five Top-Down Shooters Worth Checking Out

BNR: Ah, top-down shooters- one of the more arcade-ey genres with a measure of popularity today, there are quite a few of them on the market. Assuming you’ve played Asteroids (which drew inspiration from what many consider to be the first video game, SpaceWars) and want some more, which are worth your time? Don’t despair; my personal top-five is here! these are games that I personally really enjoyed- if you’re into top-down (also known as twin-stick) shooters, you’ll want to check these out.

My personal favorite TDS of all time is Dead Nation by House Marque. I loved that game so much, and clocked so many hours into it. Can't wait for Alienation.

Review: Halo: Spartan Assault (Apple iPad) | Digitally Downloaded

DD:
What’s quite incredible about Spartan Assault is that it has managed to encapsulate the atmosphere and design of the Halo games, previously exclusive to Microsoft systems, into the confines of an iPad. From the way troops behave, to the weapons and locations, it feels like an authentic Halo experience, even though it's a top-down dual stick shooter, rather than a FPS, and that’s the best thing Spartan Strike has going for it.
