Hardcore Gamer: he Wii U marks the third console I’ve played through CastleStorm on now, and I’m still not any closer to figuring out what I should call this thing. I suppose the closest thing would be tower defense, but it does so many different and unique things that classifying it as a tower defense game doesn’t really accurately describe it. It does have elements of a beat ‘em up, but that isn’t the main focus of the game and there are times where you can ignore those aspects entirely. It is more of a “beat and destroy their castle by throwing sheep, but also defend your castle with swarms of soldiers ‘em up” but typing that throughout the review was giving me hand cramps. Regardless of what console it has appeared on, CastleStorm has always been a lot of fun (even if I don’t quite know what to call it). The control options on the Wii U version make it feel like it should’ve been on this console all along, and if you’ve missed out until now, this would be an excellent time to make up for your mistakes.
"When it comes to indie gaming, there's always a wide selection of fresh titles to enjoy. I recently played through a bunch of indies myself so here are my thoughts about 6 undeniably unique experiences." - A.J.
Now available on Nintendo Switch, CastleStorm is a light-hearted take on the tower defence genre, and it’s fantastic.
I almost want to get this. I've played Castlestorm before on the Vita, and it was pretty good.
Zen Studios’ Castlestorm makes its way to Switch, polishing gameplay from a number of other games and bringing in its own humorous writing to tie everything together.
Great game! I played it on Steam more than a couple months ago, and yesterday bought it on Wii U and I have to agree with the reviewer in that the controls on Wii U are much better than other versions; I wish more devs use the Gamepad to its full capabilities and also introduce more genres that require abundance of inputs and interfaces that have been historically possible only on PC like Strategy games and rpgs as well as Diablo style rpgs, MMOs and Adventure games.
Game looks good. Hope it one day makes its way to ps4.
Good game, but the interface is cludgey. Well worth the purchase price!! My son loves to build castles and then 'test' his building against the ballista. Pretty cool.
