Hardcore Gamer: When it comes it kart racers on the Nintendo 64, the game that most people immediately think of is Mario Kart 64.
Best Kart game ever. That Wiz Pig was hard to beat.
I don't think I ever beat him. D: Hmmm...I'll have to dig out my old cartridge and see if I can do it now that I'm older.
This is the game Mario Kart 7 ripped off years later and fans called it "innovation". Personally, DKR and CTR were more fun when MK stopped being fun for me.
You had to beat him like 2-3 different times I believe. That game was so much more than I thought it was initially going to be. I thought it would just be a Mario Kart clone.
i beat the game :D imo one of the best games ever lol, sound track was awesome https://www.youtube.com/wat...
I really wish Mario Kart would rip that game off. Since there is no way for a sequel, Mario Kart should have planes and boats, and not that underwater racing and air sliding. At least Mario Kart 8 is going to be a little bit different with the anti gravity mechanic, but it would be awesome to have a reincarnation of Diddy Kong Racing.. The game as really much better than Mario Kart 64.
DKR or CTR passed Mario Kart a long time ago.
I never Beat him
Nice piece! I also got this around the holidays and any mention of it brings me back to Christmas 1997. Cheers!
I definitely thought about this game the past few days. I think that game was sick of me playing it since it was the only N64 game I had for 3 months. Classic and enjoyable none the less!
I spent Way more time playing DKR then I ever did with Mario Kart 64. I just found it more fun.
I for one enjoyed this mario kart and crash team racing back in the day. Each had its own special twist on the kart genre.
So many gaming Xmas videos use DKR music, and I completely agree. It's the best we've got for the holiday.
I honestly believe this is the best kart racer ever. It just had everything perfect in my opinion. Nice graphics for the time, cool stages, great music and characters that weren't big franchise icons, but were still cool. It just had this charm to it that was typical for a RareWare game. Glad my mommy got it for me when I was 15 years old. Oh the memories.
does anyone remember the egg mini game? where you'd split screen into four sections like Goldeneye, you and 3 of your friends would dive down to center to grab an egg with your feet, then fly up to your nest that had a giant picture of your character above your nest. you could either dive back down to the center or go steal an egg from a friend's nest, or shoot down a friend midair, thus thwarting their egg delivery = ) some of my best gaming moments lifetime, if not some of the best moments of my childhood. my eyes water with glee as I envision myself sitting atop my best friend's nest, watching him slowly fly in with what would soon be my egg :D it's the gaming crime of the century for Microsoft to have (while frothing at the mouth), acquired RareWare from Nintendo, dooming them to greed over the love they had for the untouchable games they created.. Microsoft sucked the fun factor right out of gaming that day..
