The Biggest Gaming Debacles of 2013

GR's DeShaun Zollicoffer writes:

The year is almost over and everyone is making GOTY lists, but let’s take time to look back at some of the year’s most controversial gaming moments. Who could forget GTA Online’s rocky launch and the Xbox One’s anti-consumer features? Here are 2013′s biggest gaming debacles. (Grand Theft Auto Online, PC, PS3, PS4, SimCity, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

Toss up between GTAV Online and Xbone/M$ PR for me.

I do feel more let down by Rockstar kinda expected M$ to be true to form!

GTA Online was to be expected after the huge hype, MS on the other hand completely surprised me with their stupidity ...good thing that they did that 180 and got rid of Don Matrick in the process. Also, Battlefield 4 would deserve a honorable mention in my book even though it's far from the Sim City desaster.

"You knew it was coming. This is the biggest debacle (and comeback) of 2013. Microsoft turned a few heads when they announced the Xbox One. Used games were out, the console would require daily online checks, and Kinect 2.0 was mandatory. Do you want to play offline? Stick with the Xbox 360. Microsoft wanted our money, but they wanted to treat us like trash. They were like “Fuck you, pay me!” and gamers said, “No, fuck you — I’m buying a PS4!”"

These are not the type of accolades MS should be be aiming for but they did work hard to earn this number 1 spot. That says lot right there.

I was watching the Xbox One reveal in May while chatting with a friend and I remember clearly pausing for a moment, and saying "is it just me, or are they blowing this?" It was a stumble that I am surprised got past the many, many people that would have been necessary to approve such a massive undertaking, and no one stopped to say "is this really a good idea?"

Microsoft spends so much time lying to consumers they don't even know what the truth is anymore. They have shown they can't be trusted, and every statement they make should be taken with a grain of salt and subject to intense scrutiny. They've earned it.
