Is Microsoft Going to Release Its Own Gaming PC?

According to Kara Swisher at AllThingsD, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has floated the idea. With Ballmer set to retire, he probably won't be there to see the project through (assuming, of course, that it makes it past the planning stages) but the very fact that it's being discussed suggests that Valve's Steam Machine project has caught Microsoft's attention.

The story is too old to be commented.

Might as well since they haven't released a video game system since 2005

Why not make 2 versions of the xbone instead...like the surface tablet. Though I would say that once MS decided to make hardware and/or make an OS around that hardware, that's when they started having issues. They have always been great at taking others' ideas and making them better...but have had a hard time w/ their phones and tablets...coming back up against apple. He who laughs last! We will see but now they may get a CEO that wants to dump the xbox. Apple should buy it...the whole division.
