Hyrule Warriors Announced For The Wii U. Can It Help Save The Wii U?

Rich Drummond of Richie D Rants says:

"We all know the Wii U has struggled. Whether it be in terms of sales, lack of third-party support or the release of the PS4 and Xbox One, to say the Wii U has had it a bit rough would be an understatement. As of very recently though, that is on par to change. Maybe not immediately, but the Wii U has a very bright future ahead of it.

Between titles like Windwaker HD and Super Mario 3D World on the market now and titles like Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. coming to the platform in 2014, the Wii U is starting to show a nice burst of life. This was only added to when during today’s (Dec. 18, 2013) Nintendo Direct the game Hyrule Warriors was announced." (Hyrule Warriors, Wii U)

It's getting a lot of good feedback from what I've seen. It's something new, but not completely at the same time. Zelda has a lot of fans, and a lot of people recognize the dynasty warrior series.
Depending on how well the game turns out when it's done, I think if done correctly it'll move quite a few units.

The WiiU doesn't need to be saved it is steadily gaining momentum. All the WiiU needs is more games and Nintendo is going to be delivering those come next year. I don't see the WiiU reaching the Wii numbers in sells, but the console will do fine. If Nintendo can deliver on all of the games they have promise for 2014 without delay then they will see a great surge in numbers. The question is what will 2015 and beyond bring for them if they deliver everything promise for 2014.

Yeah, the moment the words "save the Wii U" came before my eyes, I knew I was about to see this wasn't worth my time.

Its always the same. Someone tries to elevate every arbitrary game to supposed system seller status far beyond Nintendo's projected sales or intended purpose for the game just so they can bash it when it doesn't sale as much as they inflated it to themselves and feed off of the negativity the trashy headlines generate.

I'm tired of all of these sites trying to generate negative presumptions for Nintendo, and cash in on it.

The Wii U doesn't need saving, its just needs more games and better promotion. We know it has the games in the making, and they will be here sooner or later. As for Promotion, that's all up to the heads of the company.

Game looks great but this aint a system seller and not gonna make me buy a wiiu.
Metallox  +   781d ago
For it's own obviously not, but I think it's going to be a nice addition to the library, but nothing more special. Let's say by this way, since it's a Zelda game, it's going to sell quite well in Japan, and since it's a Dynasty Warriors game, perhaps it's not going to perform well in Western countries. Fortunately, it seems that this game can help creating more interest between Western players in the DW series, and and that Japanese players sit again attracted by Zelda games. (Yeah, I know, my spelling it's not good)

Relying on one or two games to "save" a platform is stupid. The sooner we get out of that mindset, the sooner things get better as a great library of games "saves" platforms.

We all don't look back on great consoles like the PS1, PS2, SNES, etc for ONE game.

C'mon people.
JohnnyTower  +   781d ago
Damn you and your logic! There will be no need of it here. This is the Internet.
NinjaRichParty  +   781d ago
That's not really what I'm getting at. I'm saying that 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3 and Windwaker HD will help the Wii U out of its slump.

I'm not saying that these titles will make the Wii U a stellar console, but it sure will give it a nice push out of the hole its been in.
Trago1337  +   781d ago
I think we can agree there. It's nice to have these games in addition to the big heavy hitters.

Also, I was speaking about people bringing the whole "___ will not save the Wii U".

Your article was actually good haha.
Chrischi1988  +   780d ago
That is exactly it, but I can see, how haters are coming and telling us, how we said, "wait till then" or "wait till this game" like we all rely on one single game... Ever single game added to the plattform, will increase the interest of people. Maybe Pikmin, Mario 3D World, Zelda U, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart, Smash Bros and Donkey Kong cant make the system sell as a single game, but together they might do just fine. This is what makes Nintendo special, if in a year from now, somebody would buy a Wii U, he might pick up Pikmin 3 or Mario 3D World, even though it is an older game till then, thats a thing, many other dev studios cant do with their games.

Mario 3D World sold well till now, but it will sell steadily after that, because there will be no new Mario 3D World like title for at least 3 years, probably 4. You all can say milking Mario as much as you want, but as long as it are not the same games, who cares. The gameplay counts and it is always a + if there is some famous character in that game. Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Smash Football, Mario Power Tennis are all super fun games and are hardly the same, just because they feature Mario in it.

I want a regular 3D Zelda dungeon-crawler, not Dynasty Warriors with Zelda's skin.
NinjaRichParty  +   781d ago
I think this game is a nice addition to the library as whole. If it's a solid game, I won't complain. Plus, do you really want an unfinished Zelda game? I'd rather them take their time and hit us with a polished, fun game! :)
Realplaya  +   781d ago
This game isn't by the great Anouma. It's by tecmo so we will not have the Zelda developement process impeded.

is this like a 20 dollar downloadable game or full 60 retail
NinjaRichParty  +   781d ago
There wasn't any word on that, but my best guess is that it'll be a full fledged game.
TheGamingArt  +   781d ago
Turning Zelda into Dynasty Warriors is a good thing? Lol
BosSSyndrome  +   781d ago
Thats not whats happening. It's not a replacement for anything.
TheGamingArt  +   781d ago
Never said it was a replacement. It's a sell out.... It's in the pending name for crying out load XD and people are disagreeing with my comment. That's golden.

Hyrule Warriors
Dynasty Warriors

This isn't a coincidence that was pulled out of thin air. Especially after watching the gameplay. Dynasty Warriors is EXTREMELY popular in Japan. Nintendo is trying to feed off of it's popularity in it's home town to boost Wii U sales. Anyone who wants to argue that is a blinded fanboy XD.

experimenting with established characters that people claim to be going "stale" IS a good thing.
TheGamingArt  +   780d ago
I don't disagree with that at all, but displaying this unfinished product gives a Dynasty Warrior like impression, which is not good. Especially for a very well highly acclaimed game series.

We'll see. I'm optimistic because the different enemies in Zelda have encouraged variety. Hopefully that variety will add some spice to the hack-n-slash formula.

The Wii U doesn't need saving. Nintendo is death proof cause they can actually market their games.

Chrischi1988  +   780d ago
We all know pretty well, that Nintendo had a troublesome start and has still work to do, to do quite well, but from a financial stance, Nintendo is the least in trouble of the big 3. I know, the other two are way bigger companies, seen as a whole, but if you only look at the console divisions of the companies and how much money they made and lost, Nintendo is actually looking quite good.
Theyellowflash30  +   781d ago
Stupid title, can it help save Wii U? LOL, Wii U doesn't need saving.

Xbox fans better hope Elop doesn't kill off the Xbox division. There the ones that need to be saved
HumanAfterAll  +   781d ago
Save the Wii U? Nah. Not that far.

Make me dust off my Wii U and play the holy hell out of this? YEEEEEEEAAAAAH!

This looks good though, Not gonna lie.
jholden3249  +   781d ago
Why does every Wii U headline include phrases like "save the Wii U"?

Wii U doens't need saving, cause it's here to stay already. Even if Nintendo never sold a single other Wii U from now until the 9th generation, they've still got almost 5 million users who will buy their games, and they will never stop supporting the console. So uh, forget saving the Wii U cause it's not in need of saving. It's all just a matter of how much money Nintendo will make off the console.

Having said that, this game is YET ANOTHER WINNER for Wii U. The list of must-have, must-play-this-very-second games is growing longer by the day. Nobody should be dusting any Nintendo console off. I've got 33 Wii U games in just one year, and another 11 pre ordered. 15 Wii U games on my shelf aren't even opened yet cause I don't have the time to play them all. So anyone who's NOT playing their Wii U right now is doing so by choice, not by lack of great software to play.

Get off the Wii U hate train with the doom speech, and wake up to reality. Wii U has become one hellova amazing console, whether you like it or not, and regardless of it's sales numbers.

Not saying that these are articles that are usually being posted on N4G,well...yeah these are the articles that are usually posted "DOOM'S DAY Articles"on N4G ?
Chrischi1988  +   780d ago
That is the thing. I dont believe, any Nintendo fan would bring up these news or question that, but just because the article was around, when the game is released and only doing ok, but not super duper great, all will say, we said, it will be the systems savior. Really now, do haters hate it so much, that they have to make this discussion with every single game? I dont care if it is a system seller, I like the fact, that Nintendo tries something else and brings more and new software to the system, that is all that counts for me.

If Nintendo would sell enough, so 3rd Party would come back, then right at that point, I will not care, even if PS4 sold 100x more often, i just want to play games on my console and am happy for any 3rd party, who develops for Wii U. I love playing CoD on my Wii U, I dont see any huge difference, that makes the game unplayable on wii u, so what is the problem?
illustratedDEO  +   781d ago
Does the Wii U really need saving at this point?
Enigma_2099  +   781d ago
Lots of N4G fear mongers wan you to think so.
AKR  +   781d ago
It needs to be saved from actually succeding.
- Those are the sentiments of the Nintendo haters who just want to watch their HQ burn, for WHATEVER reason.

That bad-selling, no-games slump, ended months ago. It's been rising from since Pikmin 3 released. Wii Party U and 3D World have both boosted it, despite the launches of two new systems.

Does a system that just outsold everything except 3DS in Japan for a week (sold about 70k+) sound like it's in dier need of saving?

looks lame I expected better like the wii u zelda trailer they showed a few years ago, jesus if xbox are playstation get a sequel, ppl say its played out, but if nintendo brings out a new sequel to a game thats over 10 years old or a new mario game, you nintendrones kiss its ass, what hypocrisy
