GamesIndustry International: "Nick Button-Brown has swapped Crytek for the role of studio head at UK start-up Improbable."
Outright Games chair Nick Button-Brown talks about making kids games when 11-year-olds are playing Grand Theft Auto, and how the industry needs to embrace its social responsibility.
I think it is primarily parents that need to take more responsibility of what they allow their children to play. I do agree that devs that make trolling games like 'Hatred' or 'Muslim Massacre' or 'School Shooting Simulator' etc need to take a long hard look at why they feel the need to use exploitation instead of creativity an innovation to make games.
But when it comes to mature games like God of War, GTA etc etc it's not the devs that are to be held to account if children end up playing those games. It's very much the parents that are at fault there.
"Parents need to make more responsibility for their children" honestly this is a bigger issue that applies to far more things than just gaming.
Games as an entertainment medium have come a long way and parents can no longer buy this or that game as a "here kid, shut up and leave me alone" for a few hours babysitter. Parents need to be held accountable for the things their kids are exposed to.
The Xbox One and PS4 are finally here, but how will this generation take shape? Crytek, Guerrilla Games and Oddworld Inhabitants have their say
In less than a week, both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One will have launched in the world's most lucrative console markets. If you had to plant a flag to mark the start of a new generation, you'd do well to find a more appropriate spot.
I personally think, after having every current gen console, that right now the best ecosystem it's for Sony.
With only one suscription it delivers so much that you end feeling its a steal, that and the best games is a win - win for me.
