Xbox Live And PSN: The Digital Disparity Between The Tortoise And The Hare

It seems bizarre that Microsoft should wait until three months before Xbox One’s worldwide launch to announce such a programme and open it up to developers. While some developers were no doubt included in the consultations process, it opens Microsoft up to the wider criticism that it’s simply reacting to Sony’s own initiatives.

The story is too old to be commented.

as long as the platform "parity" clause exists, XB1 will have a limit on the number of indie games it will have...

the title is a bit misleading as anyone reading it might think this article is about PSN and XBL in general and not about the indie push both networks are doing...

I agree. I thought I was going to read an article about XBL and PSN not one about indie development policy on both consoles.

As far as launch parity goes I can understand wanting a multiplatform indie game to launch at the same time on your console as your competitor I think it is foolish to just rubber stamp this on everyone. If a developer has already got a game that is ready for launch on another console they should not have to wait just because they want to become part of the new [email protected] program. Someone needs to apply a little common sense here.

Chris Charla sounds like he is going to set things straight here so hopefully things will change in this regard.
