Ridge Racer Slipstream has been compared to console entries and can be fully played without spending in-app purchases, according to Namco Bandai.
Director of global strategy for mobile Alex Adjaj said he "understood the frustrations" of recent portable instalments where you bought an expensive base product and are asked to pay for more cars and tracks.
"If you look at all the Ridge Racer games that have been brought to portable consoles, in particular in the past few years PS Vita and PSP, and you look at the Metacritic score, you see that people complain a lot about the value they got when they spent £40 for the game," Adjaj told Digital Spy.
"They get three cars and four tracks and everything else had to be purchased in the PS Vita store, a quid for every car or something like that. That was ridiculous, right?
"I'm an old fan of Ridge Racer. I bought my first Ridge Racer game in 1995 on the PlayStation, so I can understand the frustrations the fans have."
Ridge Racer Slipstream works because it captures the spirit of a pure racing game, rather than trying to do something that’s too advanced for a phone to handle.
"On this benchmark episode, T-42 returns with a fresh new look, as he gets his game on with ‘Enemy Starfighter’. Plus Amazon buys Twitch. All of this real talk and more on level-Start." -Play Legit
