Video: How to Install and Configure SteamOS Beta

Ryan Shrout:

A not-so-simple set of instructions

Valve released to the world the first beta of SteamOS, a Linux-based operating system built specifically for PC gaming, on Friday evening. We have spent quite a lot of time discussing and debating the merits of SteamOS, but this weekend we wanted to do an installation of the new OS on a system and see how it all worked.

The story is too old to be commented.

Haven't watched the video yet (at work) Does the OS get installed alongside with Windows?
Can you replace your current OS with SteamOS?

you can do both. you can install it with dualboot in mind with another partition.
but if you have windows there really isnt a huge difference between this and normal steam.

Because its BETA i highly suggest you install over the top your windows or seperate HDD.
You can partition your drive install steam that way but if the Steam OS currupts it may cause issues why i do seperate drive.
Great video BTW thoes who own AMD single card from HD5000 series upwords you can install this steam will pick your card up.
