DayZ Standalone – alpha release might be imminent

JUST KIDDING! Yes the alpha is releasing soon. The problem was the Netcode had to be redone! So naturally while the Netcode was being done they added mores stuff to DayZ.

So after the Netcode got finished they had to complete the new work and now lock down the game for ALPHA release YIPPIE!

People need to realize that DayZ was a mod made in 2012 and to have a full fledged stand alone with SO many new features added in about a year once Bohemia Interactive gave Dean Hall Permission is pretty darn good for a small team.

I love DayZ just happily roaming around exploring and then you come across a dead body or a few dead bodies and now the game becomes a detective story as you try to figure out what happened and start cautiously looking around making sure no one else is left from the firefight or a hurd of Zombies is not lurking.

Best DayZ feature added is the ability to give players the Middle finger, Handcuffs, and Hostage taking! It's so AWESOME!

I never played the mod but I've been 'hurtun to play the stand-alone for a while now and your nice little description made the wait worse ha.

I need something different like this. Sounds great.

What about the single bullet in the chamber change? I mean, seeing a guy without a mag for his M4 and then getting shot in the head seems like a good premise for some laughs too :)

And yea, can't wait to tie people up, rob them of everything, then shoot them in the leg leaving them bleeding while giving them the middle finger!

I have zero faith in Rocket...lol I think that it's more likely that WarZ is patched to be a good game than it is for Rocket to actually finish DayZ.

Ah, good old DayZ. People are still playing this? If I remember my sophomore year correctly it was this or Minecraft you had to be playing on PC. Everyone was playing either one, putting vids up and getting thousands of views per-day. I unfortunately chose, Minecraft. Lets just say at the end of summer in 2012 I haven't played it since. But, now i'm stuck with my terrible decision. Have it on PC, XBOX, AND iPhone. lol.... I hope this comes to PS4 so I can see what I missed out on.

ARMA isn't on consoles, and never will be so I doubt that DayZ will get ported over. It may be better thought out than ARMA2 but some parts of that game remain.

It's running on the same engine, it's standalone version of a mod based on ARMA2, look at the videos. It may be simplified and streamline but you can still clearly see it's heritage. It's not simplified enough to work well on a pad.

Me, I can't wait to play this game and support the developers on my PS4, despite that this was a PC mod first...don't give a shit; a good game is a good game, no matter what platform it's on.

I can't wait for all them PC games to come to PS4, and that's despite the fact that I game on PC and know of its benefits over consoles.

They're coming, and there's not much you can do to stop an appealing and impressive platform from getting games that smart developers want to bring to other markets. Maybe boast about your own personal rig that most people who game on PC don't have?

Just to clarify. Console ports are not foreseeable for the close future. Even if Rocket had been talking to Sony, there is still so much to do with the PC version that the small team surely doesn't have time to worry about a console port.
I know many of you own consoles, but for now, DayZ will most likely be PC only. While it's a standalone game, it's still based on a hybrid Arma 2/3 engine, which has never been ported to consoles.

If, however, the game has the success I'm hoping it will, perhaps there will be chances of a future game built for consoles as well (unlikely with the current engine though).

Dean hall has a Small team and that team is overwhelemd by the PC version right now. Also DAyZ is gonna see the Arma III engine so I doubt a console version will arise.

Sure Dean has had talks with SOny, every Dev talks to Sony and every Dev says "Sure a PS4 port is POSSIBLE" but it does't mean that one will be made.

Also it's NOT Dean Halls decision to port DayZ to PS4 as the Game belongs to Bohemia Interactive. DayZ was made on the Arma 2 engine by Dean while working for B.I.

DAYZ I.P. belongs to Bohemia Interactive Dean is just the designer/lead Dev all FINAL business decision are that of B.I.

Microsoft is out of the running because they charge for updates and a bunch of other petty things.

Sony is still KINDA in the running but B.I. is NOT happy with not having control of the servers which is important for DayZ unlike Blizzard and Diablo III. who knows maybe Sony will bend on this.

Just like Chris Roberts and StarCitizen, Chris 86'ed Microsoft and Sony isn't looking to good either because Chris wants one World one Server and Sony said "NO".

Not many PC devs are gonna just port their game over to console and loose all control over it. So don't count your PC Game to console ports just yet.

Hey I'm all for a console port ONLY after the PC version is finished.

BUT i just do not see how they could PROPERLY put Dayz on a console and limit the controls to a controller.

talk about Sub menus of death! I use like 50 keys for Dayz
