The fall and rise of Assassin’s Creed

PS4 Attitude: "I didn’t particularly care for Assassin’s Creed III; in fact, I thought it was a boring, bug-ridden mess. To be frank, I was ready to give any future AC games a miss, but then Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was announced, and I couldn’t help but hold out a little hope for it. This is the fall and rise of Assassin’s Creed."

I haven't played AC since Revelations, but I hear AC4 was the best since AC2.

Yeah and I'm one of those people who have said that. =D

AC IV is fantastic. It's been one of my favorite games of this year. You should definitely pick it up if you haven't yet.

OH and get a Next-Gen version if you own a PS4 or X1. It runs much better on the new consoles.

I'm pretty sure they've all been terrible. Oddly, I've never payed for any of them. They always came free with some hardware upgrade I purchased. I barely managed to beat AC II, that is I was in the process of moving and it was the only game I had installed to play. I should have read a book instead.

That is really a matter of opinion. They haven't all been terrible but its obvious that some are better than others, no differently than any other series. And while AC3 was a mild disappointment, AC4 took what was best in AC3 and ended up being one of the better titles in the series.

That's not saying a lot. I gave up after AC3 , it reminds me a lot of Killzone. Each new one that comes out promises to be good and never is. AC3 was such a huge time suck where you play for about 5 minutes and goes into some cut scene about fictional history that I don't give an f about , not even compelling, then you get to play 5 more minutes, cut scene again, rinse and repeat. The graphics and the cool character design doesn't make up for crap gameplay.

You will never beat AC2 for a true AC experience

One_Eyed_Wizard870d ago

Loved it but it's about as bug-ridden as AC3 though. Might be worse.

I've only played ACIV for around 5-6 hours now, but so far it's definitely been a smoother experience than ACIII. That video is epic though! :)

One_Eyed_Wizard870d ago

I probably sunk like 40 hours into it. I can tell you it wasn't nearly as smooth as AC2 at least.

The only bugs I'm getting in AC4 are ones that are stopping me from 100% completion. I can't replay sequence 2-2 which is really pissing me off and I had to do a profile delete to get the 9 weapons used. Other than that the bugs have been very minimal for me.

One_Eyed_Wizard870d ago

I don't know about you but I ran into more than a few invisible walls while trying to climb or simply running/walking around. There was also that time while battling a legendary ship where it just went 90 degrees, turned on itself and landed on the Jackdaw. I was like WTH! Lol. Also, I've had the one where a dead soldier follows me around deck, shaking and stuff. Kind of creepy. It's all good fun though.

OMNlPOTENT870d ago

@One_Eyed_Wizard Yeah I hit an invisible wall or two while freerunning, but that's a common occurrence in the AC series for me. As for the Legendary ship one, that sounds wonky but no that never happened to me haha. I'm really disappointed that last one didn't happen to me though. That sounds like some pirate curse that I'd like to see happen. Unfortunately I only got the completionist's worst nightmare bugs for the most part ):

Playing AC Liberation on my Psvita and then AC3 back to back....
just killed the series for me
