Is it really wise to buy a next-gen console at launch?

Is it really worthwhile buying a next-gen console close to the release date? I question that, with evidence of course.... (Industry, Tag Invalid)

Not enough games usually at launch. Twenty something is just so so. Like, if you're an rpg fan what would you play right now on next gen?
