Ryse: Son of Rome Review (BioGamer Girl)

BioGamer Girl states, "Ryse: Son of Rome is a fun launch title for the Xbox One, but it isn't a system seller on its own. The game only features a rather short campaign of about six hours, though it's entertaining while it lasts. Combat will divide players with one half believing it's too reptitive to be enjoyable, while others will be able to simply enjoy slicing up their enemies with execution attacks for hours on end. Only time will tell how Ryse: Son of Rome will stack up to other games for the Xbox One, as we get further in the console's life cycle, since the game's best feature is its graphics, but for now, Ryse: Son of Rome is well worth a pickup for early adopters of the Xbox One. Ryse: Son of Rome features Roman gladiator combat at its finest, and you'll find it hard not to yell out your favorite 300 and Gladitor film quotes while playing the new game." (Ryse: Son of Rome, Xbox One) 7/10

It is a good, next gen launch game. The combat isn't the deepest, but it is fun with a serviceable/good storyline, and the coop multiplayer mode can be fun too. Much to build on for a sequel that I hope will be made.

I'm actually gonna try it. I was watching my mate play Knack and I don't know why people aren't talking about the visuals more. I'll do the same with Ryse actually.

How are Ryse owners enjoying it? That's what I want to know.

My time combing the different message boards seems to indicate that the game is being positively received overall. I know I've enjoyed it, too.

Game its great l, like 7 hours long. The story its great I love the rome so for me was a good story. The combat its a little repetitive but i was surprised that changes in some stages. The last two chapters were wow! All this reviews are bs. Games like cod or gears that are always the same get a 9 and this a 5 bs. Ho and the game looks amazing no way the xbox one its only 1.3 tfp.

It's a good game. Far from great, but solid.

I've had fun with it as well.

Now playing through campaign on hardest difficulty = much more of a challenge.
The combat feels great, it has oomph!!! Impressive how quickly Marius can get that shield up for a block.
The acting and facial capture, especially, is second to none I think....well, I haven't played Beyond Two Souls, but that looks good as well in those regards.

Multi-player is fun, as you can earn coin to buy either bronze, silver or gold boosters. Seems to be well balanced in regards to amount of coin earned and costs of booster packs.

The micro transactions are the only thing in this game that turned me off, but as I don't use them, it wouldn't be a deal breaker. It will be interesting to see where they go with tournament rankings and DLC over the next year.

During the Campaign the player can also collect different Vista's which can then be used in the Arena during multi-Player, something I only discovered during my last multi-player experience. They Gladiator I was fighting with had a choice of like 12 different ones, where as I only had 4 at the time... I am looking for them more now that I know they actually are cool to collect.
If they do make a sequel, they have a solid foundation to build upon, that's for sure.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I think that's really what matters...whether the gamers enjoy it or not. I've enjoyed Knack and just look how poor the reviews for that were. Bubbles all around!

6 hour campaign is a letdown. I can see how some people would love this game though, I mean it's got that Gladiator setting and awesome kill visuals. 6 hour piece of cake basically.
