Ubisoft expects quick transition, reinvigorated market and boom in new ideas as next-gen arrives

Following the cross-gen release of its two biggest series Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance, Ubisoft EMEA executive director Alain Corre carved out a few spare moments in his schedule to answer four quick questions over email. Here, we ask why Ubisoft invests so heavily in new hardware launches, how quickly the French publisher believes players will switch to new hardware, how PS4 and Xbox One sales have performed and when we’ll see a defining next-gen game. (Alain Corre, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, PS4, Ubisoft, Watch Dogs, Xbox One)

ACIV was good i love it. The Division is really amazing and same with watch dogs. Ubi love to take risk and show impressive games. i Cant wait what else they have in stored for us.

One thing that they should of put in aciv was plank walking and parrots. you got to have that in a pirate game.

Um, no, that is the opposite of authentic pirates. -_- Ubisoft researched as much as the time period as possible and left all that romanticized crap out.

It's really hard to bring in new ideas if you have exactly the same controllers as last gen :-\ all you can do is build some bigger worlds and add better textures with the new hardware. But I'm pretty sure we are going to see bigger and better looking 3rd person / 1st person shooters and racing games and button masher RPG style adventures (GoW style) and that's it.
On pc with oculus rift there is new technology and even WiiU brings new possibilities to the table. But sadly neither Devs nor the gamers really want any of that.
We want dual analog and Call of duty. It's sad but it's the truth.

I am incredibly happy using all 3 systems' improved controllers. Nintendo is obviously the most different and innovative, PS4 improved the most, and XBoxOne refined what was already great.

I'm just fine with bigger, more seamless open worlds, drastically improved draw distances, and significantly increased textures.

Next gen, Xmas 2019, they can focus on all digital, 4k+, innovate controls, Oculus Roft-lie experiences, and holographic displays. That's a long way off. Enjoy the refinements until then, 200 million systems will be sold between the big 3, not even counting Steam.
