[Ghosts Of Gaming Past] A Review Of 'Fatal Frame' | BD

BD writes: "I’m amazed and ashamed that I never picked up Fatal Frame the first time through, and so I probably don’t have any rose-colored vision through which to view it. However, the game is solid and different – and also much better than 99.9% of all horror and/or survival horror games ever – so it deserves a playthrough, especially if you want to consider yourself well-played. Sir." (Fatal Frame, PS2, Xbox)

Grabbed the first two for PS3 on the cheap over Amazon on the cheap a couple weeks ago.
Haven't actually played either yet.

Ps2 games on PS3 with software emulation usually tend to have horrible input lag, i experienced it with the first Fatal Frame and Persona 3. Last month i got a physical copy of Persona 3 on my PS2 and i felt like the controls were really smooth since the input lag is gone. Can't understand how can they release a fighting game such as VF4 on PS3 store with that horrible input lag.

Regardless, Fatal Frame 1 was my first one into the series and its actually really good. Hope you enjoy it as much as i did.

Here is to hoping it goes unnoticed then. I know you are talking input-lag brought on by the game itself, but, if nothing else, I play on a monitor with no discernible input lag, so at least that won't be contributing to it on top of things.

I hope they make a next-gen Fatal Frame game....

Fatal Frame is great stuff but the sequel, Crimson Butterfly, is off the charts in terms of the scares. To date, the sequel is the only game that ever gave me nightmares and IMHO, one of the best horror games of all time. It just has a way of getting under your skin that I can't explain.

this is one series i wouldn't mind double dipping if they released a HD remake or Definitive version...

damn you Nintendo for doing nothing with it...

Well Nintendo did release Spirit Camera for the 3DS. Not sure how great it is. Could check out the trailer for your self if you haven't seen it yet. Looks decent if anything. It has that Fatal Frame vibe.

I nearly crapped myself when I first tried it. One seriously creepy game.
