The Great Debate: COD vs Battlefield

(this conversation takes place before both Xbox One and PS4 released)
What you are about to read, is a conversation between two passionate gamers and long time friends (has it really been 7 years already?) about the state of modern first person shooters. It’s a battle of minds, about the age long war between Battlefield, and Call of Duty. This is a conversation between Jae_Blaze06 and BauerKillz, and Mr_Yarger. Enjoy, and let the "war" commence! (Battlefield 4, Call of Duty, PC, PS4, Tag Invalid, Xbox One)

easy list:
cod: pick up and play, lone ranger combat, fast paced, for casuals and hardcore, arcade style fps, small maps, low player vs player count 9v9 max

bf: takes time to master, team based, medium to fast paced depending on mode, harcore, simulation style fps, maps of all sizes, high player vs player count at 32 vs 32

cod strengths: larger fan base, easy to master, sp mode has better story lines, killstreaks.

bf strengths: destruction on a massive scale, large weapon selection with large customization for guns, gernades, tools, med kits, side arms, explosives, knives all have a verity to choose and upgrade with use, vehicle combat( vehicles also upgradable everything from dirt bikes to jets), graphics, large maps eliminate camping and brings true sniping, seem to take a step forward every installation.
you make your choice. i've retired from cod. bf has turned me...no more kids screaming in my ears, and that feelin u get when you land a head shot from 500m away ....priceless marksman points baby!

Totally agree. It's really important to identify the strengths of each game, and look at them very differently! They both have very different play styles. Also, those 500m headshots are extremely satisfying!!!

I had fun with COD. It ran it's course. Now BF4 has my attention and I'm loving it

Battlefield 4 by far over CoD Ghost.
Anybody that played the beta of battlefield, just know the full game is much much better.

Except Call of Duty works.

POINT!

The game still has a LOT of issues and bugs it needs to sort out, but overall, it is quite good. Lag, party system constantly failing, and bad spawns in death match have hampered my personal experience thus far.

Just made the switch and I have to say I'm enjoying the hell out of BF4. Not happy going 3-15, but I like the game lol.

You'll learn. Just play objectively and know what's going on. Use cover and for the love of god change kits when necessary. And spot like a maniac.

I used to be a COD player but it has gotten really boring lately.. Battlefield on the other hand gave me new ways of playing a fps multiplayer. Unfortunately BF4 has been very unstable and the removed party system doesn't help at all. It just boggles my mind that they could make such a ridiculous decision.

I'm rather disappointed with both games at the moment but luckily there are other awesome games coming soon!

What games have you most excited?
yezz  +   379d ago
There are so many.. For example Watch Dogs, Infamous, Witcher 3 and The Division all look pretty amazing.. Then there's The Order 1886 but we haven't seen much of it.

Looking at those games, the open world genre must be this generations thing...

The order isn't open world. Its a linear story based game. But its still going to be awesome I can't wait.
