Fortune: Gran Turismo 6 $300 million launch focuses on PS3

While Sony (SNE) is pushing its new PlayStation 4 hardware this fall, the PS4 won't be getting Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 6. Sony is focusing on the 80 million PlayStation 3 global gamers for its newest internally developed racing simulation, which drives into worldwide retailers on December 6.
The franchise is celebrating its 15th anniversary with sales of more than 70 million copies around the globe. This year, Gran Turismo 5 surpassed 10 million units sold for PS3 since its November 2010 launch, making it one of the best-selling PS3 franchises ever. The critically acclaimed racing game has grossed over $2.5 billion for Sony, and video game analyst Peter Warman of research firm Newzoo believes GT6 will drive strong sales this fall and beyond. What Polyphony is doing with car manufacturers and designing supercars for the game is more impressive than anything Turn 10 has done.

I know I would much rather them design concept cars for the game instead of improving the crappy audio this game still has.

so 300million is not enough? they need microtransactions....ok

You can say the same thing about NFS or Grid, because Forza never was never well be a racing sim you cant compare an arcade game best thing about it is customized colors to GT.

Forza's not all that bad, it just vibes with a different crowd than GT. Unfortunatly Turn 10 newest outing lacks ANY sort of backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 wheels. Having to buy 'another $299+ wheel has got be a downer for any Forza fan.

They should focus on fixing sounds and putting cockpits on cars instead of putting more and more fillers in the game. Just my 2 cents though.

Everyone knows Forza is the king of car racing... Sorry PS dudes

more like the king of fundraising for microsoft

good point thank god plyphony decided not to do microtransactions. They kept it real for gamers that is why I respect them. /s

No. Especially after seeing how disappointing forza 5 was graphically.

Hahaha that made me laughed because he jokingly said, "...forza is the king of car racing..."
Because he knows for fact that real race drivers uses gt as there go to simulator to test and learn tracks lol.
He also knows that gt is used in a reality show to create real race drivers.
Good one buddy.

It's a damn shame the Ai is so ****ing bad in GT. GT is good for driving - Bad for Racing.

@Irish IGN said the AI in GT6 gives a great challenge so what are you talking about right now :/.
kneon  +   386d ago
I'm only a couple hours into it so far but the AI in GT6 seems to be quite a bit better than in GT5. They are certainly more aggressive and don't take too kindly to blocking them with a much slower car.
PSjesus  +   387d ago
For arcade racing nope Mario Kart,Burnout and NFS are the best.in Sim genre there is only one available for consoles and it's GT

I enjoyed GT5 but I don't see any reason why I should buy this one. Don't get me wrong, it seems to be a good game but there is no enough incentive for me to get it now.

I can turn my attention to DriveClub

same here. At least DC cars don't sound like me farting in Coca Cola bottle
Fishy Fingers  +   387d ago
Same, recently picked up the PS4 so the thought of spending £40 on a PS3 game gives me the chills.

Driveclub (as well as others) will see me through until GT hits the PS4.

2.5 BILLION and Sony cannot help them buy a microphone to record engine sounds! My Dyson sounds meaner than the GT super cars.

I love GT, but come Kaz put some time into 7 and give us a PROPER next gen release. No more crap damage modeling, and vacuum sounding cars. Give him praise, but keep him grounded in reality. GT needs some polish for next gen.

Also give us some damn proper Euro cars. See Driveclub.
