The Eternal Appeal of Team Fortress 2

Sean Halliday of Pixel Gate writes:

''Team Fortress 2 has transcended the realm of merely being just another online shooter; it’s become a phenomenon. It is possibly the most fun you could have while playing an online shooter, and not only that, it is also the only game impossible to rage over. Sure, it’s not as widely appreciated by the gaming community on the whole, but this is mainly due to the limited nature of the console version. The chances are, though, that if you asked any active PC gamer if they had played Team Fortress 2, the response would be yes.'' (PC, Team Fortress 2)

TF2 is a truly fantastic game, it's already six years old, and still receiving frequent updates, whereas most other games had already died in that time and gotten a sequel. There is just so much to do! I've myself haven't played it in a while, I've had so much other games. Proudly put almost 1500 hours in it!

I think it's a great example of how to support a game years after release.

Probably the best in my opinion. No other game has evolved as much as TF2 has since it's launch. Like, it's a completely different game now.

@Pandamobile

IDK dude LoL and WoW have undergone some pretty drastic changes as well. I'd have to say LoL has had the most consistent and large amount of changes.

But hey just goes to show why it's that much better to have a gaming PC :D

TF2 was the best 2 bucks i had spent on any game. I bought it during the engineer update in June 2010 and since then i haven't spent a single penny on Steam.

I have 2000 hours on the game and have bought upto 60 games with the in-game currency. I still have a back-pack with $675 worth in items ready for the next Steam sales. :D

I think the funniest part about seeing this today and realizing how absolutely massive the TF2 community is to this day, is I saw some complete ZERO say the other day "Realism+Fun > Fun" XD

How to make a game age well? Make it as balanced as possible. Or perfectly balanced. Chess anyone? Wonder if TF2 will be played in 2000 years from now.

"In the grim darkness of the 4th millenium of TF2...there are only hats..."

I'm surprised they haven't re-released the updated team fortress 2 on consoles
