Star Citizen Keeps Shattering Records: Flies Past $32,000,0000, Raises Two Million in Two Days

Only two days ago we reported about Star Citizen hit $30,000,000, but the crowd funding cavalcade shows no signs of slowing down. As a matter of fact, it switched gears the money is rolling in even faster than usual.

Today the game hit and surpassed $32,000,000, raising over two million dollars in two days thanks to a very successful anniversary sale. It’s currently sitting on a luxurious total of $32,363,550. (PC, Star Citizen)

The new Avenger-video was good: https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Graphically, Star Citizen will surpass everything clearly.

"Graphically, Star Citizen will surpass everything clearly."

I don't fully understand the hype for the graphics. Now before everybody jumps on me hear me out. I do think that the game looks good from what I've seen (which isn't much to be perfectly honest). But what I've seen are spaceships, halls, hallways, people and space.

It's all things that aren't too hard to make look good (except for the people). Most of the stuff in this game is kind of geometrical. It's much harder to make trees or grass that's blowing in the wind look good. I understand that the game is set in space so there won't be any landscapes.

My point is the game looks good but not impressive imo. It isn't comparable to other visually great games like Crysis 3, Ryse or KZ:SW cause they haven't much in common.

Maybe I haven't seen enough to really judge the graphics though.

I agree with you, but I think Star Citizen is bringing graphics to a much larger scale than ever before, so that's why they are impressive.

Definitely getting this game, hopefully they put all that money to good use.
ATiElite  +   486d ago
OK this is getting beyond crazy! S.C. was at $30 million like 2 days ago!

Aegis dynamics Avenger looks pretty good. I think this is the default ship for Squadron 42 or I may be wrong.

I just need lifetime insurance for my Retaliator and Stealth Hornet!

32 million is the lower-budget of some of the next-gen console games, so it's not that crazy.
Dark11  +   486d ago
The Witcher 3 budget is 30 million.

Let's see how good star citizen can be.

Witcher 2 cost 10 million.
Hellbringer  +   486d ago
Star Citizen will be more like an 130 Million Dollar PC game.

Please look at this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-A...

They can "put over 4x the resources in game development vs. other costs associated with the traditional box-production Publishing model".

Come the end of the day... it isn't how much you spent, it's how well the resources were used.
Obamanationn  +   486d ago
Battlefield 3 was , 30-40 million dollar game... with over 100 million in marketing .
AnotherProGamer  +   485d ago
No the average budget for AAA game is 25 million
Cernunnos  +   485d ago
They don't have to spend half their budget on a publisher.
ATiElite  +   485d ago
PC games do NOT require that much money to make because they can done by small teams with NO Publisher!

$8 to $18 million is the average budget of a PC game except MMO's.

So SC having a $32m budget is crazy.

Plus No money has to spent on Advertisement which EATS up a lot of consoles budget along with License fees
Magicite  +   485d ago
For instance, Grand Theft Auto IV cost $100 million to make.
Deltaguy  +   486d ago
star citizen raised money using basically promises and some crap looking 3d models lol

LMAO very funny, bubble vote for you sir.
Rzep  +   486d ago
It's still more transparent than the pre-orders everyone goes nuts for.
spicelicka  +   485d ago
pre-orders can be easily cancelled, and don't affect the budget or development of the game, well barely. They're just a way of securing your copy or committing to buying the game...which has already been shown for for you to make that decision in the first place.

Regardless, it has nothing to do with that game. It may be amazing or it may be a fail, the graphics look insane though.
ChrisW  +   485d ago
Star Citizen is being developed by the guy was responsible for the most enjoyable space-flight games to date; Wing Commander, Privateer, and Freelancer.

If you've never hear of nor played these game, your comment is even more worthless!
Meep  +   486d ago
Just waiting for when the release the dog fighting module. I try not to hype myself up Since there is still about a year to go, but when they release these new ships it just gets me all tingly.
weirdo  +   486d ago
for that amount of cash, surely a console version isn't too much to ask
Peekayboo  +   486d ago
It will probably have a console version for the Steambox but not the ps4/xbox
Rzep  +   485d ago
Console version fot the Steambox...you mean it will be Linux compatible.
Peekayboo  +   485d ago
It's going to be Linus compatible but, It took the Steambox for Crytek to hire someone to port their engine
Rooted_Dust  +   485d ago
The problem with that is...do you really think it's console only players who've invested all this money into the project?
coolbeans  +   485d ago
Since it's only been advertised as a PC game (even one of their trailer specifically states this), what reason would console only players have in investing so much money into this?
spicelicka  +   485d ago
Only think i can assume is that it'll have port depending on the success of the game.
Magicite  +   485d ago
there will be no inferior versions for this game.
kevnb  +   486d ago
im more excited for this than any other game period, wing commander rocked back in the day! I get the feeling of classic pc gaming, no big huge publishers to ruin this!
Enigma_2099  +   485d ago
Can't wait to see if the final product is even worth that much.

Seriously, when did games get so d*** expensive to make?!?! You CAN'T sit there and tell me that someone's not pocketing a good portion of that.
DomceM  +   485d ago
Umm lol? If you think you can make a game of similar scope for cheaper why dont you open up your own game studio?

Armchair developer lol...
Enigma_2099  +   484d ago
You done? Now how about answering the question? If anything, this game has set the bar for itself rather high. I hope it lives up to your rose-tinted expectations.

BTW, lol doesn't make you look clever. It makes you look stupid. Learn the difference.
dcj0524  +   485d ago
This is insane. Makes me want to build a PC. I really hope this comes to PS4 WITH CROSS-PLAY so I can play with my PC buddies.
matrixman92  +   485d ago
i feel bad that i still dont know what this game is, and am too lazy to put in the effort to find out lol

STARCITIZEN is NOT coming to a console!

Sony/MS have too many rules and Chris only wants SC on ONE server. He does NOT want to do a PC server and a PS4 server.

So if you want to play SC go buy a PC.

By the way NO console has a game like SC. so if u guys are getting tired of all your games having numbers after them then go get a PC.

I also love how there are several people here talking BAD about SC and these clowns do not even have gaming PC or know what SC is all about.

go play on your PS4 if it's so great and stay out of the PC threads. Oh wait u guys have finished all your 8 hour games and now have nothing to play LOL

ChrisW  +   485d ago
Besides, Xone and PS4's graphical power will only be in the low range of what this game is capable of.
Abriael  +   485d ago
Actually Roberts already said that a PS4 port is a possibility.
DomceM  +   485d ago
its not happening. He said possibly, after the PC version was done, and only if sony/ms dropped all requirements that other games have (i.e no patch fees, enable cross platform play, etc).

so its extremely unlikely.

oh yeah.. sony\MS would have to fund it all too.
#12.2.1 (Edited 485d ago ) | Agree(2) | Disagree(1) | Report
Abriael  +   485d ago
@DomceM:

He never said Sony would have to fund it all. Cross platform play is already enabled, and patch fees are not there for independent developers.

I know quite well as he told me directly when I interviewed him at Gamescom.
DomceM  +   485d ago
@Abriael

He stated on SC forums that sony would have to do the funding. I dont know what he told you at gamescom but it was specifically stated sony would have to fund it.

Or do you think that PC gamers will be ok with CIG and CR to take our money and make you a console port? Yeah.. doubtful.

EDIT: Yeah the shitstorm that happened after a ps4 devkit was seen to be used as a monitor stand and CR response:

"IF the platform holders (Sony & Microsoft) allow us to update the code and data without restrictions and odious time consuming QC procedures, IF they allow our community to openly interact with each other across platforms then I would CONSIDER supporting them."

AND

"And even then it would only be contemplated as a port from the PC, not the other way around plus we would require a financial commitment by Sony to make it happen"

And he is not the only member of CIG to say this. Basically if you want your port either ms or sony has to pay for it. Not PC gamers.
