Killzone: Shadow Fall - Possibly The Saddest Moment In The Whole Series [SPOILERS]

TPG - The Killzone series has never really been known to give any touching moments, despite how sad they are made to seem. In every title pre Shadow Fall it's always been about the ISA's taking back and fighting against the misunderstood Helghast race. Shadow Fall finally explores the Helghast and even goes so far to exploit the VSA for their exploitation that they have done to the Helghasts. All in all, I have to say this single moment in the game captures everything wrong with fighting against the Helghasts.

It was moments liek these that really shined in the campaign TBH. I don't get why this game rated so low. Comparing this to Killzone 3, heck even 2 I would say GG are heading in the corerect direction. The game essentially ended with both sides being shown as equal evil. I would be disappointed if in the next game we really don't get to play as a Helgahst because that's what they seem to set it up as. Even if it's a third faction split between the two.

Honestly though, this single Helghast showed more compassion than any character in the past games. He's not seeking revenge despite what happened to his family, he just wants his home back and is giving the Vetkans a chance to leave the planet.

Yeah i hope we get so play as Echo from now on.That ending was fantastic.Kojima should take note - That is how you make a sexy, badass female sniper. All without showing any skin.Hell, even most of her face was covered.

Really enjoyed the campaign overall.Only downside was i kept getting lost a lot.Like, A LOT.Very hard to figure where exactly you're supposed to go and what to do but other then that the game is a solid 9/10 in my book.

Nitrowolf21816d ago

Thats' my only issue with the campaign. The objective markers blended in to much with the environment, especially where there's a otn of lights.

zpoc1816d ago

i personally liked how big and open the levels were. i never really felt lost because i was constantly exploring, trying to find voice memos the other collectibles. i though the game did a pretty good job of letting you know where your actual objective was located, but i've seen enough people complain about it that it's obviously an issue that could have been better addressed.

Ju1816d ago

While I agree, it actually plays like real live. No markers there. You know where to go, now find your way there. When you realize that is what the game is about, you will apply the same method there, and voila, it actually works. It's just a perception that we need to run down one linear corridor because we got so used to it. This game is different.

I loved Killzone 2 and Killzone 3, but I went over to a friends place to try out some of the single player in Shadow Fall, and it just didn't do anything for me. The graphics are the best ever seen on a Playstation console, but from the small bit that I played, it just didn't draw me in like KZ2 & KZ3. I haven't tried Killzone: Mercenaries yet, but that game looks really good to me for some reason.

Its rated so low because the killzone franchise is a p.o.s.

Xsilver1816d ago

he walked away with all them feels http://cdn01.cdnwp.celebuzz... good job now i hate the VSA aka ISA

Sharingan_no_Kakashi1816d ago

The game is stunning and definitely a step in the right direction for the franchise. But it did make a lot of missteps and the scores I thought were deserving. If I were only judging the single player I'd give it an 8 at the most. The multiplayer is a 9 though.

Destrania1816d ago

I'd probably rate it an 8.5/10. Fantastic game overall. Can't wait to see what GG does next.

Pintheshadows1816d ago (Edited 1816d ago )

It is so much more a sequel to the original Killzone than a continuation of what 2 and 3 did. It feels so good to play as well. I'm learning that the OWL makes the game very open from an approach perspective.

A Helghast trooper took a picture of my corpse earlier.

Ju1816d ago

How so? Second half is totally based on KZ3, would not work any other way.

Pintheshadows1816d ago

I mean from a gameplay perspective Ju, not from a story perspective.

The saddest moment is when you are playing this supposed best looking next gen game and think "this is it?"

TOGC1816d ago

The game is beautiful.

zpoc1816d ago

considering it looks better than anything even the beefiest gaming pc can produce, i can't imagine what your expectations were.

Tony-Red-Grave1816d ago

I wouldn't go that far, beefest pc will put out things that will blow your mind, but the game looke amazing! Hands down better looking than most launch games. Especially since there was alot of detail in the levels. But not "better than anything the beefiest pc can produce"

I saw your attempt at trolling and had to login and reply with "That is it?"

At least some other troll attempts had some "burn factor" to it or is somewhat funny.

I suggest getting your eyes checked at your earliest convenience.

Haha... same man... I was all "not on my watch motherf...STAB" :)

Now I am looking forward to completing the campaign, since I would like to experience this for myself. Sounds like a pretty memorable experience that is often lacking from a FPS campaign.

I bought so many games during the Target buy 2 get 1 free promotion and need to focus on completing just one game at a time :)

Prime1571816d ago

The first half of the game has nothing on the second half. I bet most reviews that are sub 6 didn't get through the first few chapters.

Cryptcuzz1816d ago

You're getting me too excited now!
I am going to start the campaign here in a bit :)
