Xbox One Review | TPReview

TPReview have spent some time with Xbox One using it for a variety of tasks and playing a lot of games, how does it stack up? An in-depth review focusing on the hardware and UI. (Tag Invalid, Xbox One) 9/10

Xbone seems to be getting an easy pass simply because it's a multimedia device now. Way to rate a video game console.. .. .. ..
I would have assumed the ps4 would get higher marks due to its native 1080p quality games right from the start, not to mention it's insane potential for the upcoming games throughout the coming years.. .. Kinda blind sided in a way personally. ..

I think its a gaming console. Nobody buys it for the sole purpose of paying for Xbox live to watch TV or Netflix. Nobody is paying 500 bucks for a good Skype camera. Those are handy features of the games console. I can't possibly imagine anybody buying it solely to snap their fantasy football on screen and nothing else. So that being said, why would it not be reviewed and ranked by all of its features insteadvof solely the gaming?

The Xbox does get extra marks for all the things it does, because those are things we find really useful and fun. It also plays games really well - Our PS4 review will be out this week but so far the only games I've really enjoyed on the PS4 are Resogun and War Thunder, Killzone really isn't a shining endorsement of the console, After playing both in my home I'd go so far as to say I think Ryse looks better than Killzone.

I think both consoles have a lot of potential, they're both doing some really cool things, the Xbox One has just impressed me a lot more than I thought it would while the PS4 seems like more of the same really.

How does it stack up to gaming? I see lots and LOTS of reviews that judge it based as a multimedia device. But this here's a gaming site, and the XB1 is supposed to be a gaming console.

Out of all the launch games DR3, Ryse and Forza are pretty much amazing, Killer Instinct is really good, the multiplatform games are all fine -> really good (I wish BF4 would stop crashing). The controller is great as ever and switching between games is really easy now. The achievement system is also better with little progress counters for everything (like if you have 101/150 collectables there's a little bar chart). So yeah, gaming is much as it has ever been with a few improvements, a lot of the multimedia functions are new and therefore exciting. The DVR function on both consoles is awesome.
