Microsoft says: "There are many complexities associated with delivering a great voice experience around the world, and we’re working hard to add more voice features and more countries; we’ll share more details in the future"
UK is there so am happy :)
LMMFAO Isn't voice commanding the damn the their biggest selling point? The thing they tout the most and their entire reason for forcing kinect 2.0 to be bundle? They mention it more than the HDMI in port and nap functionality. What a huge misstep. Smh
So they are charging for a camera, which doesn't work properly?
This is old news no? Gad I'm in the UK.
This is old news but I'm pretty sure many thought they'd try a little harder to have it ready. It was mentioned months ago so things could have improved, guess they were too busy though.
Not surprised. It only works 75% of the time when people speaking English are using it.
Im in the UK and watched polygon live stream (how lame of me) - It was proper car crash TV and I had to force myself to goto bed at 1.30am!! That verge guy showed exactly how it is.... "Quick use the controller" but I could imagine that menu system would be hard work not using the kinect.
Yeah but it works 75% of the time, EVERYTIME. So if I said you could count the number of countries voice commands work in on one hand that would be totally accurate?
unless your hand was in some way deformed then yeah you should be able to... also your ability to count would play a part aswell i suppose.... i jest i jest ha
I've watched so many streams of the voice functionality and wondered how do Microsoft executives get it to work every time... Then I noticed what they were doing different than everyone else. The trick? Give a very small pause between "Xbox" and the command. Xbox only starts listening when "Xbox" is said and it takes a while to register.
Yh true I have seen two videos from CVG & Gizmodo where they nailed it perfectly and it worked as advertised. The problem MS will have is that a lot of people can be impatience & just want things to work instantly so they would probably write it off before trying to learn how to use it properly.
I noticed that too and that will be the way I use mine when it arrives tomorrow. Im sure over time we will be able to say xbox go to tv but for now im happy to say xbox ... go to tv if it works every time. Cant wait to get mine tomorrow though and ill be playing forza 5 all well and ill have a break in the middle for a bit of KI.
I think that just applies to the "Xbox On" command.
That makes no sense. Surely that would be the simplest command to support.
This is what bothers me the most in Xbone. It's biggest selling points seem to work properly in America and maybe few other countries. The actual system doesn't even arrive to some european countries this year(including mine). There are probably thousands of families that will buy this machine all over the world hoping to use all this cool stuff, just to find out that it doesn't even bloody work!
Is there any videos on whether Kinect can handle accents spoken with english. Just asking cause some I've seen lots of videos of american people and kinect does have some trouble sometimes so it might be worse if the person that spoke had an accent.
weve known this for a while i still dont get why ireland doesnt get this support, by saying u.k that means it works in scotland, wales, ulster and one might argue guernsey, gibraltar and the isle of man being english crown dependents aswell. so does it only work in the the actual country of england or does it mean the u.k, so if yes then ulster is supported... which brings me back to the original question why no irish support?
The reason for Norway didnt get Xbox One this year was this lame thing about speech stuff. I have a nudge that says in Norway wont Kinect work at launch with features like speech recognition, so a lame excuse for not have enough consoles.
