New Wii U Commercial Totally Misses the Mark

A lot of clueless parents and non-hardcore gamers still think that the Wii U is a controller accessory to the Wii, and Nintendo aimed to fix that with a new ad campaign that attempts to settle the score. Unfortunately it completely fails in its quest to educate consumers.

"I weep for all of the disappointed children who are going to end up with a Wii Mini or just a Wii U gamepad this Christmas."

EveryNObody on the web finds it trendy and cool to take cheap shots at Nintendo while they continue to provide the best games and innovation on console as well as handheld, LoL. But the first comment on that article is a winner and well deserved.

He needs to do more research the Wii U gamepad is not sold separately so how are they going end up just with it lol.

Neonridr1699d ago

That was my immediate thought. Good luck finding a gamepad on its own.

seem's like he's the one that totally missed the mark! Lol

It's not really that funny since it doesn't make sense

Killzone Shadow Fall doesn't sound anything like Call of Duty or Battlefield 4 while the Wii U sounds like the Wii, the Wii Mini, the Wii U Pad etc

So yeah he totally failed their in my opinon

Fanboyssuck271698d ago

Killzone and call of duty are not consoles, they are games.

What a stupid idiotic comparison.

Neonridr1699d ago

Commercial was ok. I don't know. I guess people are expecting a paint by numbers commercial nowadays or something.

If a parent repeats the words "Wii U" or "gamepad" inside any store that sells them, the staff should be educated enough to pick up on that.

LOL_WUT1699d ago

Good luck Nintendo these ads just aren't doing it enough ;)

Fanboyssuck271698d ago

Nintendo doesn't need your luck or comments.
Time will prove all your rubbish troll comments wrong. d;o)

PeteyMcPickle1698d ago

Does EVERY one of your comments have to end with a wink? Everyone here already knows you're a troll, you don't need to try to make it obvious anymore.

The commercial opens up with the lines:

Mom: "We already have a Wii."
Kid: "Wii U is an upgrade."

...Those two lines alone differentiate the Wii from the Wii U. If that isn't enough for people to get the memo, then I don't know what is.

This has to be the most straight-forward ad yet. I don't see what's the problem. You can't get more obvious than this.

Muffins12231699d ago (Edited 1699d ago )

Those two lines make it seem like wiiplus remote attachment or a wiifit....

Sly-Lupin1698d ago

You don't know what "upgrade" means. When you upgrade an item, you improve on that item... you don't construct a new, better item.

For example: if I upgrade my PC from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, do I suddenly have a brand new PC?

Neonridr1698d ago (Edited 1698d ago )

ever used the word upgrade when talking about video game consoles and it not mean a new system? We're not including PC's in this conversation buddy.

Sly-Lupin1697d ago

Upgrade means the same thing regardless of the context.

For example:

What happens when you upgrade an N64?
You add an expansion pack, you don't buy a gamecube.

If you have an argument to make, Neonridr, please try to make it a valid one. You're not doing well so far.

All the kid had to say. "Wii U is the new console"

imXify1698d ago

WiiU isn't selling because of bad games. It's because of a major social problem...
