Sony Computer Entertainment Canada VP and General Manager Steve Turvey thinks that day one sales are important, but maybe too much emphasis is placed on them, while the road to lasting success is still long.
At least Sony is keeping a level head. 1st day sales are cool, but let's wait until 1st year sales are done to really sit back and celebrate.
I agree, but I can definitely imagine the dude smirking as he said that :D
Smirking and passing a big fat one around the board room because if that was my company i would be celebrating about now.
Really though, am I missing something here? I thought the PS4 was sold out on day one? If you're selling all the units your shipping, what's the big deal with day one figures? In terms of the console war at least, it doesn't really prove much at this point.
I assume by "big fat one" you were referring to a nice fart where everyone gets a lungful.
@stevehyphen to assume is to make an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me' By big fat one i was refering to a joint, dooby, spliff, banger, happy cigarette and whatever else narcotics and alcohol they may be inclined to take.
@stevehyphen to assume is to make an 'assm' out of 'u' and 'me' By big fat one i was refering to a joint, dooby, spliff, banger, happy cigarette and whatever else narcotics and alcohol they may be inclined to take.
@SirBradders You know that statement has never made sense to me. When someone makes an assumption, they only make an ass of themselves, and no one else.
I think this is one of the things they have learned from PS3. Everybody thought Sony was going to disappear after what happened to PS3 launch, but they did ok in the end or they didn't give up till the end. Heheh....we're still waiting further news on "The Last Guardian."
I don't remember people thinking Sony would just disappear. I remember everybody saying "wait until next year", "wait until ______ comes out" and 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 would all be "The Year of the Playstation"
It came mostly from those who lost faith in Sony and MS loyalties.
I remember ps3 having the highest rated and biggest quantity of exclusives compared to any other platform , i think every year was the year of the playstation, It sold a lot faster than its direct competition as well.
What he said..
as i said before, Sony seems very non-aggressive. Kaz becoming CEO and booting Stringer & Kutaragi did wonders...
I mean I understand what you are getting at but your one day sales were good right? I mean a million plus in such a short time isn't anything to sneeze at no matter what people say to the contrary
Sure the first day sales were great, they could hardly have been any better. But we need to see how sales do over the next year. Remember that the Wii U did ok at first as well, and then sales just plummeted and have yet to recover to a decent level.
Maybe to lighten the blow if Xbone sales more this Friday since it's semi-worldwide? But I doubt it. It will matter next Friday once the rest of the world gets ps4.
While Europeans are getting PS4 people here in the U.S will be trampling each other for deals XD. @Junior xD http://youtu.be/s2bIWt-bDTU
My cheap big screen tv! Leave it alone.
Good. Keep a level head. Launch day is important, but keeping your focus and priorities simple and focused is they key, just like preparation. Good to know Sony isn't getting arrogant. Another lesson learnt from the PS3. It is a great console, but the beginning was rough.
In other words Wait till we launch in those other 20 countries. :)
Nexus 7 2013?
Nope im on my PC.
Well said, Steve. Why isn't this guy getting more publicity? I'd love to see him up on stage with Jack, Andrew, and the crew. :)
I love Sony... Not ashamed to say it
It's definitely a far cry from the PS3 launch that Sony & gamers endured that's for sure. Everyone at Sony should be proud of what they were able to accomplish with the launch of the system (minus some hick ups here & there) & proving to all the doubters that console gaming is dead. As with Sony & everyone that has followed the brand since it came into the industry we know that we are in for a ride when it comes to games. Sony has always delivered the games so those complaining about the launch games haven't been following Sony from the beginning.
