Next Assassin’s Creed Will Be “Much More” Next Gen

AGZ | After the grand success of Assassin’s Creed 4, Ubisoft isn’t just planning to stop at the Pirate business. They are planning to take the franchise one step further. There has already been some juicy rumors about Assassin’s Creed 5 and its plot. It’s always surprising to see where the game would take place next. Also with the release of next gen consoles, there is always room for development of the games.

Ubisoft has multiple teams that work on Assassins Creed games. AC4 was worked on for 3 years before release.

It's only Activision and Infinite Ward that rotate COD games so 2 years development compared to 3 years development.

But either way Ubisoft is pushing it further. In all other games the trees are just there for looks but Ubisoft made the engine for the free running on trees so the climbing animations had to work on trees 3 to 6 feet tall. Then there sea engine was greatly improved from AC3 to AC4. The waves are just amazing and the smoke that comes out of the cannons. Boarding ships never happened in AC3. With next gen also realistically moving bushes.

Then I've only found 1 or 2 bugs in 20 hours of gameplay.

It does like quite nice on next gen though. I saw it at MCM London and whilst it may not be obvious in comparison videos it looks significantly better than the current gen versions on a TV in motion. The lighting, LoD and draw distance are very impressive.

Black flag is a most play and is the best in the series.to bad that inconsistent reviewing and arbitary numbers doesn't refelect this.

It looks pretty nice on PS4, but I agree that it could be pushed much farther in so many aspects if it was dedicated next-gen.

I think thats the issue. I may be wrong here, but I thought the dev codes the game for the current gen, and then ups the graphics, textures etc for next gen. Hence why thereis not a noticable difference in games like AC4 between say current gen and next gen. I think once they say the next AC title is purely next gen, then they can save all the time bothering with other versions and really capitalise and focus their developement on the next gen versions.

I have the PS4 Version and it is pretty stunning the water is just so clear and pretty awesome... that being said.. I have never been fan of assassins Creed till Black Flag IV...

It is one awesome game... so much to do compared to thee older versions of this game... it is nothing like the first three...

I can't wait to see what these guys do next... I hope it will be Pirates again... since this one is so much fun... that being said... I can't wait to see what it is going to be ...

This game is so worth the 60 bucks... jammed packed with fun... and that is what gaming is about.. Having FUN...

I love getting my pirate level to 4 by just destroying ships. Then when hunters come after you they send a level 38 bridgette and a level 60 man of war. I've got 5 so far and I'm going to get 15 man of wars in my fleet. Those ships battles won't stand a chance. Haha

Honestly I hope it won't be pirates again, If they are they should do a spinoff of like Pirate's creed.
Assassins are meant to be far to delicate and deliberate to be pirates, this one just didnt have the same feel as the others.
Hoping for feudal Japan for the next one, that would be awesome!

Omg enough with this annoying pessimist attitude on this site. A good artist is NEVER completely satisfied with their work and ALWAYS try to do better the next time around. This applies to game developers, directors, photographers, actors, and musical artists. They ALWAYS look back at what is considered their best work and say "oh that could've been better, this could've been better, that part sucked." So seriously, get off of your high horse and stop taking the words of ARTISTS out of context! And no, blind hate against triple A games does not make you a unique gamer, because I know you probably think it does, unlike half the indies that come out today most triple A games don't try to hide behind an "artsy" label and give you half a product because it's more artistic that way.

"Look back"??! The game's been out for like 2 weeks!! Don't give me that crap. All Ubisoft are doing here is leading on all the mindless consumers who continue to buy their churned out, anti-innovative games. Its insurance.

It's not blind hate. Industrializing culture produces non-art. Their heart isn't in creating a piece of art and it shows. The sheer volume of money involved compromises or severely curtails artistic preoccupations. They have no choice but to focus on what's profitable, and what's profitable is that which stays the same for a long time. Something that repeatedly shifts and changes cannot be a basis for stable profit. Stop supporting this milked, samey, garbage. The industry is stagnating creatively.

You likely define "half a product" as a game without a mini-map, without violence, without loads of "cool" ways to maim and murder, without "destructible environments," without "free-roaming," without a totally inept writing team, and in general a game that isn't completely hackneyed in its tropes and general presentation. These games are the equivalent of big, stupid, mindless blockbuster films.

Indies make unique games not because they're contrarians, but because money isn't an issue. They can afford to take huge risks and expand the medium as an art form, not as a damn industry. It's quite the opposite of "hiding." The only interesting things happening in games right now are the things happening in the Indie scene. They're challenging and changing the preconceptions of what a game can be. The greatest injustice is corporations like Sony and MS trying to muscle in and tempt them with money, just so those Indies can be their slaves; creating the games of the future that corporations will snatch up and milk till they dry up and die.

Any time someone creates something they see areas they can improve, things they could have done better or improved on. It's painfully obvious that the PS4 and Xbox One versions are built on the PS3 and 360 versions. With the improved hardware they have the options of creating bigger, prettier worlds, diverse crowds with even more variables with how they react to the world around them not to mention all of the potential this brings for gameplay.

Of course Ubisoft cares, but the people who spent years piecing together Assassins Creed IV at Ubisoft Montreal definitely care. Your comment is so flipping ignorant it makes my head hurt. The game needs to turn a profit or the massive investment in Montreal stops making sense, suddenly those 2,500 people who work there are out of a job or severely downsized. Does any of this make sense to you or games built purely on good feelings and rainbow dust.

I hope so, played it on PS4 and on PC, and while it's good looking, the PC version of AC4 isn't that much of an improvement graphically over AC3. I would also hope for them to improve the freerunning in the game, as it can be very frustrating at times.
