Xbox One Controller and Hardware Preview | SpawnFirst

Geron Roper gives his impressions on the Xbox One console and controller: "The Xbox One is right around the corner, and Microsoft has given some the chance to try the system out at Microsoft Stores across the US. I took the opportunity to get my hands wrapped around the controller and a couple of the games they had on show, and attempted to see if this thing was the one to get this holiday. I’m primarily going to focus on the controller, as full OS and game features weren’t available, but that certainly still gives me plenty to talk about, especially since I had the pleasure of giving the console’s premier fighting game a long bit of my time."

I am thrilled with my DualShock 4 controller, but the Xbox One controller is sexy.

Even though I'm a PS gamer, I liked the controllers for the Xbox systems more. However, until I can get my hands on the Xbox One pad, the DS4 is king right now.

I have yet told hold the DS4 but it looks like a pretty sweet and was a much needed upgrade. That being said, I was able to pick up the new xbox controller yesterday while trading in and paying off my preorder and have been phantom gaming with it ever since. The bumpers are a little different, but I found that you can actually use them easily without have to take your fingers off the triggers. I like all the improvements so far and after a little gaming and breaking in I'm sure this will be another great gamepad.

As a PS4 owner, I'm envious of the rumble triggers. I'm always a sucker for vibration done right, as archaic as that sounds. However, while I doubt the touchpad on the DualShock 4 will be anything more that novel I must admit how responsive it is for Killzone: Shadow excites me. If you've played Oblivion, or another game with a radial menu, it's terrible with a D-Pad or even analog stick. The touchpad would be AWESOME for this.

Yea true, the DS4 is so comfortable... I like the xbone controller... But the AA batteries tho.......

..... save us from buying a full replacement if the battery unit dies. ;o)

I bought rechargeable AA batteries about 5 years ago and been using them ever since. I have about 10 of them. I use them in all kinds of applications. It's nice when the batteries get low, I just pop in 2 more and I have very little down time without being restricted to a cable. I actually prefer the batteries.

A removable battery pack will forever be a plus to me, not a minus.

Like strange days said... easy to replace if the battery fails, for one.

My other thing is that if it gets low I can just swap it on the fly instead of tethering myself to something to charge up.

That is an issue with the PS4 that I absolutely hate already. I had to buy two controllers so I can just switch off when one dies.

Which looks like it is going to be quite often.

Battery life on the DS4 is pitiful. I think I got about 6 or 7 hours out of a full charge.

My biggest difference between the controllers (mind you I bought one, but I have yet to use it on a game) is the sticks feel 100% better on the Xbox One. It feels like it allows ALOT of control and it seems as though it will be even more precise. Racing on this controller I have a feeling will be fantastic.

DS4 is a huge improvement over DS3 Wow
but i always liked the 360 controller better and the X1 controller looks amazing especially those impulse triggers

A little off topic, but every thread I've been in today has had PS4 and XB1 gamers having reasonable discussions on preference without all the hate filled dribble of fanaticism. Keep up the good work my fellow gamers!

I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it, but you are correct.

What is going on, I wonder?

Maybe all the trolls got posting restrictions over the weekend. lol
