So Ubi are doing an IW and patching 1080p in? Why isn't it in from the start? And still no news on the X1 resolution....pull your fingers out Ubi.

Edit: Read the article, 1080p and improved AA coming with patch. Hope it hits before the 29th.

Enemy3806d ago (Edited 3806d ago )

I don't know but:

"It's unknown at what resolution the game runs on the Xbox One."

Expect lower resolution on other platforms except PC.

Also, for the delusional kiddies:

“If it’s running at 720p vs 1080p, you’re going to notice the difference, by far,” Trottier explains.

black0o3806d ago

what! i thought 720p had better texture :P and the difference between 720pvs1080p unnoticeable

Do you think this has something to do with Microsoft. I have heard it stated that their game has to be just as good as other consoles. Is this a way around that?

darthv723806d ago

the more i think about it, the more im inclined to believe the resolution for XB1 is related to the "SNAP" feature. To resize the screen and fit in other content at the same time.

similar to how some wii-u games are transferred to the gamepad from the TV requires some resizing as well.

only system that does not have any type of feature like this is the PS4. Even taking into account of remote play on the vita is more inline with the game streaming to that system and at the conditions of the connection which is not the same type of direct off tv play like the wii-u or the picture in picture of the xb1.

An iPad could probably run games better than a xbone

"Do you think this has something to do with Microsoft. I have heard it stated that their game has to be just as good as other consoles. Is this a way around that?"

I'm starting to wonder. With 2 games getting the 1080p patch treatment on PS4, it makes you wonder if there's something going on behind the curtains. After all, MS forces developers to have parity with the LAUNCH, not afterwards. MS might be trying to enforce the big publishers to keep a resolution parity at launch as well.

Something I was wondering myself. Current gen/last gen could partial be to blame but however these guys had months to do this. Why they didn't implement from the start is beyond me.

kennyg37393806d ago

@Lukas_Japonius, that's the problem with N4G everyone wants put out their opinion but they never read the articles.

GarrusVakarian3806d ago

I didn't give an opinion though......

GribbleGrunger3806d ago (Edited 3806d ago )

Yes, this is all starting to look a little suspicious. If one more game gets this treatment I'm going to call it, and I'm sure most people will understand what I'm getting at. You don't starve Paul to feed Peter when Paul is the one that works the hardest and sells more of your wares ...

Studio-YaMi3806d ago

Well good news is that both the PS4 & XboxOne are gonna get the improved AA patching.

No word on what resolution the XboxOne version is gonna be at though.

Convas3806d ago

Pixel counters already were theorizing that the Xbox One version was 900p when the Xbox One gameplay video came out.

LonChaneyTV3806d ago (Edited 3806d ago )

It's shouldn't be too hard to see native on both. recommended system requirements for PC is a HD 5850.

Destrania3806d ago

New AA technique, huh? Interesting. Can't wait to see what it will be like after the update.

DaGR8JIBRALTAR3806d ago

Trust me... its beautiful. I thought it was already running in 1080p natively.

I just hope that the small issues with ps4 is sorted out before it launches in europe. Can't wait to get my hand on killzone, AC4,BF4 and Need 4 speed along side resogun ( ps + free)

Neonridr3806d ago

Wait, but the IW patch was apparently just to fix an error with the output that Ghosts was being rendered at. This actually looks like a patch to bump up the resolution.

Didn't we just read an article recently that said don't expect to see patches that will bump up the resolution in a game??

Kayant3806d ago

WTH is going on COD now AC.... Oh my launch development is this tight... Woow so many games are unfinished it seems.

GarrusVakarian3806d ago (Edited 3806d ago )

Yeah, when you think about it this is Ubi we are talking about. AC4 is cross gen, a yearly franchise game that had to release in time for launch.....definitely some rushing going on, hence why they have to update to 1080p at a later date.

Same with CoD Ghosts. Not surprising either.

I want a dedicated next gen AC title. 2/3 years in the making.

black0o3806d ago

Devs are working on 6 platforms (x360,x1,wiiU,Ps3,4 and PC)

testerg353806d ago

I asked this on COD and didn't get a response... so does it mean that the textures are being downscaled to 720p from 1080p or higher? It would suck if they are 720p textures.

Abriael3806d ago

Texture resolution and rendering resolution are 100% separate things.

The rendering resolution is the number of pixels on your screen. The texture resolution is the number of pixels of the textures plastered on a game's polygons.

They've nothing to do with each other. You could easily have a game in 720p with K4 size resolution textures on the polygons, if the memory bandwidth allows.

Ingram3806d ago

Textures aren't "p", which merely stands for progressive output.

You can have several textures on a given mesh, and the resolution of them will be either 512x512, 1024x1024 or 2048x2048. Final framebuffer output and texture resolution are different.

testerg353806d ago

Sorry.. I do understand that they are separate, but are the textures lower resolution since the game originally is 720p for all platforms (maybe except PC)?

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag vs Skull and Bones Video Comparison Is an Eye-Opener

Ubisoft has just released Skull and Bones on PC and consoles. And, from the looks of it, the game wasn’t received well by some gamers. Not only that but it appears that Skull and Bones can be worse than Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, a game that came out a decade ago.

I wanted a Black Flag sequel so bad. It's still my favorite AC entry. The fact that they ignored everything that we loved about that game in this "spiritual successor" is making me enjoy watching this game crash and burn quite a bit. Either do it right or don't do it at all. (I understand the legal binding they got themselves into with the Singapore government to release this game at all costs)

/grabs popcorn

isarai60d ago

My thing is, if the Singapore govt was forcing you to do it at all cost, why not make what people wanted? How did ubi delay it for 5yrs, then again for 1yr and not just make a similar experience to black flag? How do you spend so much time and make so little?

Chocoburger59d ago

Ubisoft did make a sequel, Assassin's Creed: Rogue. It has a short campaign, and its packed with filler side quests for upgrades, but it's still a decent time.

It released on the same day as Assassin's Creed: Unity, so it was mostly forgotten.

porkChop59d ago

11 years of development. Multiple restarts. All the while people have been saying they don't want some pirate game where you can't even get off your ship. 11 years of people telling Ubisoft all they want is a pirate game that's basically Black Flag without any of the assassin or animus stuff. Yet they still served up this trash that no one wanted, charged $70 for it, and had the balls to call it AAAA.

The Guillemot family honestly needs to be forced out of Ubisoft. They've doubled down on everything players don't like about their games, they want AI to create "rough drafts" of their stories rather than letting their writers do their jobs, and they literally do not give a shit what their playerbase actually wants. 5-6 years ago their stock was worth more than 4x what it's currently worth. The company is dying.

Jin_Sakai59d ago (Edited 59d ago )

What has happened to developers? How can you possible make a worse looking game 11 years later? It’s honestly mind boggling.

darksky59d ago

It's because the older developers were better at it. The new generation pass most of their exams by copying code from around the web so are not nearly as good at understanding what they are developing.

LucasRuinedChildhood59d ago (Edited 59d ago )

No, here's the truth:
https://www.channelnewsasia...
This was made in Singapore and it's the first game of this scale to be made there. Ubisoft would probably cancel it normally since it clearly wasn't shaping up well but they were getting government grants to try build up the industry there.

Do you really think game developers are radically different than just 10 years ago? And this game has been development since Black Flag released.

Using one crap game to trash a whole industry of developers is stupid. It's like saying "Alien Colonial Marines proves that game developers suck now."

yeahokwhatever59d ago

i know this to be at least part of the puzzle from experience.

senorfartcushion58d ago

It's the multiplayer aspect of the world. MP games look worse than single player games, period. Every comparison we keep seeing are for games like Gotham Knights, Suicide Squad and Skull and Bones. They all have multiplayer focusses.

SyntheticForm59d ago

God, I'd love a remake of Black Flag.

Yi-Long59d ago

Enough has been said about this game already. The gaming world shrugged when it was announced so many years ago, and instead of listening to all the criticisms from the community back then, Ubi just sailed on and kept making a game nobody really wanted. What a waste of money and effort.
